We absolutely love our home city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Rapids offers some of the best restaurants and craft breweries in the state. Here are a few of our favorite places to eat, drink (and be married):
Breakfast
Anna's House on Plainfield Avenue: Good quality food and coffee in delicious and interesting combinations.
Lucy's Café: Coffee or brunch cocktails, you choose! Plus delicious fresh and local foods.
Real Food Café on Plainfield Avenue: A good, solid breakfast (and where Justin and I get omelets on any given Saturday morning).
Lunch and Dinner
Blue Water Grill: A slightly upscale dining option with delicious seafood.
Hopcat at Knapp's Corner: Head to the Grand Rapids version of Justin and my first date spot (he had the quesadillas and I had the grilled cheese).
House of Wine: Whitney's favorite stop for a glass of wine and a cheese board.
Logan's Alley: Our favorite dive bar that serves delicious non-bar food.
Luna: Margarita flights and a salsa sampler. Need I say more?
The Old Goat: With a selection of 12 homemade soups a day that you can sample before ordering, you can't go wrong.
San Chez Bistro: Delicious tapas and cocktails make San Chez one of Grand Rapids' top restaurants.
Breweries
Brewery Vivant: Inspired by small breweries in Southern Belgium and Northern France, Brewery Vivant serves awesome beer (Farmhand is one of my all-time favorites) and delicious food.
Harmony Hall: pizza, beer, a cool vibe and a great view of downtown make this a fun stop!
Mitten Brewing Co.: Not only can you order beer flights, you can get pizza flights, too!
Frederik Meijer Gardens is a botanical garden and sculpture park with a stunning holiday exhibit.
"Ring in the holiday season with our most beloved winter exhibition. It's the season of joy! Forget the hustle and bustle and find joy in our winter wonderland - it's an idyllic spot to center your thoughts on the true meaning of the holidays.
Excitement surrounds this time of year as the annual Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World exhibition brings the glow of nearly 400,000 colorful lights, strolling carolers, visits from Santa, rooftop reindeer and 42 international trees and displays."
Up for a day of winter sports? At Cannonsburg you can ski, snowboard, tube, cross-country ski or snow shoe to your heart's content (or at least until it's time to get ready for our wedding).
Up for exploring the most famous brewery Grand Rapids has to offer? Founders Brewing Co. offers fun brewery tours, great beer and delicious food!
Downtown Rockford, Michigan is one of our favorite places to spend a Saturday afternoon. Just a ten minute drive from Grand Rapids, you'll find a small town decorated with holiday charm! Lots of little boutiques, delicious restaurants, the White Pine trail and a scenic river dam make this a fun day trip!
