A combined Haldi and Mehendi ceremony is a vibrant and joyous affair that brings together the auspicious rituals of turmeric application and henna artistry in a single celebration. Held in the lead-up to an Indian wedding, this ceremony symbolizes the union of love and prosperity, fostering a sense of togetherness and anticipation for the upcoming wedding celebrations. Adding a unique twist to this tradition, we've chosen to host this ceremony in the setting of a pool party. We’re hoping the pool party ambiance adds a friendly vibe to the festivities, creating a lively yet relaxed atmosphere filled with laughter, music, and the warm embrace of Varisha's cultural heritage.

The Haldi ceremony will kick off at 9am with family and friends applying a fragrant and golden turmeric paste (haldi) on both of our face, hands, and feet. Turmeric is known for its auspicious and purifying properties, and symbolizes blessings for a prosperous and harmonious married life.

As the golden hues of Haldi settle, the atmosphere transforms into a pool party from around 10:30 am, along with the intricate application of Mehendi (Henna) designs on the hands of whoever would like it. Skilled artists will be at the venue to create beautiful patterns that symbolise love, joy, and the sanctity of marriage.

The evening festivities will begin promptly at 16:30 with a Hindu (Gujarati) wedding ceremony. The ceremony will begin with 'Varghodo' or 'Baraat' which will see Will's lively procession accompanied by his friends & family, singing and dancing their way to the venue. The wedding rituals include the exchange of vows and the tying of the sacred thread, symbolizing the union of two souls. The wedding ceremony is considered complete following the 'Mangalsutra' ceremony and the 'Saptapadi,' where we will take seven symbolic steps together as these are integral parts of sealing our marital bond.

Following the ceremonial rituals, the celebration takes a glamorous turn with a Bollywood-themed party. Family and friends showcase their talents in dance and song, celebrating the union of two families, while grooving to the beats of iconic Bollywood tunes. We hope this fusion of Gujarati wedding traditions and the high-energy spirit of a Bollywood party creates an unforgettable celebration.

We will say “I do” on Cavelossim Beach against the backdrop of the sun setting over the Arabian sea. Please come along by 16:00, ready to be seated no later than 16:15. The ceremony will unfold at 16:30 with Will waiting for Varisha to walk down the aisle amongst friends and family. Central to the ceremony will be the exchange of wedding vows, where we will make promises to love, honor, and cherish each other. This will be followed by the exchange of rings, which will further symbolise our unity and commitment to each other. The wedding ceremony will conclude with a pronouncement of our marriage and a joyous recessional, marking the beginning of our married life together.

As the sun sets on the beach nuptials, the celebration will continue with a reception that captures the spirit of Goa. The reception, infused with Goan traditions, will be filled with lively music, dance, and the delectable flavours of Goan cuisine.
