Travel

There are two excellent ways to get to Inuvik, the first is the most adventurous (and cheaper if travelling with more then one); by vehicle. The drive includes many great views, wildlife, lakes, as well as unique places to see along the drive. If driving from Saskatchewan the best route can be found on google maps which goes through Edmonton, Fort Nelson British Columbia, Whitehorse Yukon and then up the dempster highway until arriving in Inuvik. These three stops is where you will have to overnight, because to get to each entail a full days drive. The dempster highway can be unpredictable at times so it would be best to drive an SUV or a truck and be sure to bring a tire repair kit, extra blankets, and extra gas to be prepared if any emergencies (hopefully not) would happen.

The second mode of travel which is a more direct, and faster would be to travel by air. Canadian North is the airline that travels to Inuvik from Edmonton. If flying the full way you very likely will need to fly to Edmonton the day before your indented arrival date. You then will need accommodations to overnight in Edmonton to catch the once a day 7am flight to Inuvik the next morning.
