To My Amazing Parents,
As I stand on the threshold of this new chapter, I want to take a moment to thank you both for everything you’ve given me and continue to offer. From the many family vacations to the countless conversations, you have shown me what it means to be loving, supportive, and always present when it matters most. Whether it’s helping me weigh big decisions or simply listening when I need to chat, your wise words have meant more to me than I can express.
You’ve always questioned my choices—not out of doubt, but because you care enough to make sure I’ve thought through every possibility. It’s a lesson I’ll carry with me into my marriage. Your wisdom has shaped who I am today, and I’ll be forever grateful for that.
I’m also so grateful for the way you’ve embraced Laura. From the very first time you met her, you welcomed her as part of the family, showing her the same warmth and love you’ve always shown me. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to know that you’ve supported our relationship from day one.
As I step into this new journey, I do so with confidence and so much excitement—because of the support you’ve always provided. Thank you for being the incredible parents that you are. I am so lucky to have you as my foundation, and I can’t wait to continue building our future together.
Love,
Xavier
A Thank You to My Parents,
My parents have been the foundation of everything I am today, shaping me with some of life's most valuable lessons. From an early age, they instilled in me the power of perseverance and determination—or, as my dad always called it, HEART. They taught me to never give up, to believe in myself, and to play my game. Whether I was chasing a goal in hockey, striving for success in school, or facing life’s challenges, they always believed in me, even if I doubted myself. That unwavering support made all the difference.
One of the greatest values my parents passed on is the importance of family. If there’s one thing that defines my family, it’s how we’re always there for one another, no matter what. We’ve shared so many moments together, from spending summers at the lake to cheering each other on at countless hockey games. These memories have shaped who I am and taught me the true meaning of family.
My dad has always been my rock—the steady presence I could rely on through every moment, big or small. Whether it was cheering me on at hockey games, offering guidance when I felt lost, or simply standing by my side no matter what, he has played an irreplaceable role in shaping the person I am today. His example taught me what to look for in a partner—kindness, respect, and someone who will always stand by my side. I am so grateful for everything he’s done and continues to do for me.
I’ve always been a daddy’s girl, and some of my most cherished memories are the early mornings spent fishing with him. Every weekend, for as long as I can remember, he’d wake me up to head out to the water—it was our special time together. Those quiet moments, filled with laughter, patience, and the simple joy of being together, are memories I will never forget. It’s a tradition I will continue to uphold, and one I can’t wait for him to pass down to my kids someday.
My mom, on the other hand, has been my guiding light. She’s the strongest, most selfless woman I know, and I’ve always aspired to be like her. She’s taught me so much about love, resilience, and what it means to be a supportive partner, and she continues to inspire me every day. Beyond that, she’s also one of my best friends—the person I can always count on for a reality check, a pep talk, or a good laugh when I need it most.
One of the things that connects us most is our shared passion for teaching and working with kids. Watching the way she pours her heart into shaping young minds has been one of the greatest inspirations in my life. She taught me not just the importance of patience and kindness but also the joy that comes from making a difference in a child’s life. Her dedication, compassion, and ability to see the potential in every child have set the standard for the kind of educator and person I strive to be. I am so grateful for everything she has taught me, both in life and in our shared love for this work.
Even though being far from home isn’t always easy, I’ve never felt disconnected. My parents have been nothing but supportive as I’ve entered this exciting new chapter, and knowing they’re just a call away makes all the difference. Their love and guidance have shaped not only the person I’ve become but also the foundation of the relationship I’m building with Xavier. They’ve embraced him wholeheartedly (though he's still waiting for his name to be permanently added to his Christmas stocking), and their acceptance has meant so much to both of us.
Mom and Dad, thank you for always believing in me, teaching me to value family, and showing me what it means to love with your whole heart. I’m so grateful for all you’ve done to prepare me for this next step, and I’m proud to carry the values you’ve instilled in me into my marriage.
Love,
Laura
