Nick, a bagel shop owner/dog dad, and Yael, a musician/hamburger lover (according to their dating profiles) first met in 2019. They spent that first night texting each other for hours. It became abundantly clear to them that that this was something special. Maybe it was because Yael three days prior declared to the universe “I don’t think I can date a man that doesn’t like bagels” or perhaps it was because Nick had gotten out of surgery earlier that day and the waning anesthesia was just making him really funny. Either way, it was love at first megabyte.

Their story thus far has been filled with lots of laughter, too much tuna salad, a deluge of dog friends, nightly neighborhood walks, delicatessen dialogues, three bountiful garden beds and quality time with their friends and family.

After spending all 15 years of the pandemic right at each other’s sides, Nick took Yael to an Alpaca farm in October of 2022 to ask her to marry him. Alpaca and llama witnesses would attest that it was the most beautiful proposal they’d ever seen.
