One of our favorite ways to explore the national mall is actually at night when all of the monuments are lit up. This makes for a fun and unique way to see DC's historic landmarks.

Did you know that Washington, DC is home to the world's largest museum complex? The Smithsonian institute comprises of eleven museums located along the National Mall, with six others and the National Zoo in nearby neighborhoods. The best part? They are all free! Some require advanced passes to be reserved. Some of our favorites are the Natural History Museum, Portrait Gallery, and Air and Space Museum.
