It all started back in 2015 when all of App State watched Zach kick the winning field goal in the Camellia Bowl game! I was watching the game with friends and when my dad called me to talk about the big win, I remember saying, “Who was that?! He’s cute!”
Little did I know, I would get to meet the cute kicker a few years later in 2018. Shout out to our mutual friends, Mike and Caroline, for introducing us during a night out in Charlotte! Well, the saying, “timing is everything”, couldn’t have been more true. I had just moved to Charlotte, Zach was just getting started in his career and it wasn’t time for “us” yet. We each still had growing up and figuring out life to do- cliche I know, but true! (Can’t wait to see what Zach says about this part of our story 😆)
Fast forward again to 2020 when I was living with my friend, Katelyn, in California for the year. Zach was living with Katelyn’s now husband, Simms, in NC. They both came to California for July 4th and well, the rest is history! It only took traveling across the country for the timing to be right!
A few more years go by with lots of traveling, nights out in Charlotte, spending time with friends and family and really just spending some of the best years of our lives together. Summer of 2021, we planned our dream trip to the Teton Mountains and Yellowstone. On July 7th, 2022, on a morning hike, Zach proposed with my Nanny’s (my mom’s mom) diamond. It was the most special moment and it got even better when we learned July 7th was my Nanny and Poppy’s wedding anniversary. It couldn’t have been a more perfect start for us and the reassurance we’re living God’s plan!
Zach is now my constant while going through PA school and I couldn’t be more grateful for our timing and our perfect story.
Love you most, Z!
Erin and I met in the summer of 2018 through mutual friends, Mike and Caroline. We went on a few friend dates and eventually some one on one dates. After about a month or so of dating, I bought us Chick-Fil-A one morning and she came to my apartment and told me we both “had some growing up to do” and she wasn’t in the right place for a relationship. Deep down I was upset, but had to admit I was in the same place. After she left I remember thinking to myself “if an opportunity presented itself, I would seriously pursue a relationship with her.”
Fast forward to the summer of 2020 and my opportunity came! I flew out to Santa Monica with my roommate, Simms, who was visiting his now wife….who was Erin’s roommate!! I had found out that she was also moving back to NC and thought to myself “what better opportunity than this?!!” So I flew out with the goal of rekindling the flame and that’s exactly what I did! I was a little nervous because it had been a couple years and didn’t know where she was at relationship wise, but shooters shoot and I took my shot. We stayed in contact for the next month and I waited patiently for her to get back to NC, where I took her out on a date within the first couple days of her return.
After a couple years of dating and really getting to know one another, I knew I was ready to make her my wife. I made the trip out to Lake James and spoke with her parents and asked for their blessing and they accepted! I knew Erin’s Nanny was her favorite person, and I was fortunate to receive her diamond from Erin’s mom while asking for their blessing.
I had it set in a ring Erin mentioned she loved months prior (Erin may say that I don’t listen much but I listened on that day) and snuck it on our trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Our friends Lillian and Pete were unbelievably helpful with the planning and the proposal went 1000x better than I expected!
Erin is now in PA school and we are making this next step in life and I can’t wait for all of it! Looks like we did some growing up!
Love you, E
