We have been fortunate enough to have many people that we deeply cherish in our life. Though we have chosen to wed in a intimate ceremony and without a formal wedding party, we still wish for these special people to be honored at our wedding events.
Traditionally, a couple would have “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” on their wedding day to bring good luck into the marriage. This “blue crew” has brought our relationship good luck and great memories thus far— so we would be honored by them serving as our own rendition of this timeless tradition. They have made a significant impact on us as individuals, or in most cases as a couple.
We will be humbly requesting all other guests to forgo the colors blue and white for the wedding day, as our bride will be in white and this crew will be in their choice of blue. We are so happy to honor this group of people, who mean the absolute world to us!
meet the blue crew!
Katlin Brown - Maid of Honor
Kate is the bride's younger, favorite, and only sister. As their relationship evolved throughout childhood, teenage years, and now into adulthood; they can confidently call each other the best of friends. Though we do not have an official wedding party, Kate is distinguished as maid of honor due to her extraordinary care, effort, and love she has shown her sister— and now her soon-to-be brother-in-law!
Chris Melvin -
Zach and Chris met at Truman State University back in 2011, where they were both members of Lambda Chi Alpha. The friends lived together for two years in college, and stayed friends after Truman when they both moved back to the Kansas City area. Melvin was a great friend to have at your side, and is dearly missed. He unexpectedly passed away before Zach and Kalee’s wedding, but is still an honorary member of our blue crew now and forever.
Brianna Medina-Arnold -
Brianna and Kalee met in 2014, through Alpha Gamma Delta and their friend Lindsay. In college the two were crammed in a tiny sorority bedroom together, and somehow made it out as the best of friends. Brianna loves her friends with her whole heart, and is never afraid to show that love unconditionally-- which she has undoubtably done for Zach and Kalee.
Peter Vaughn -
Zach and Peter met at Truman State University in 2010, where they both pledged for Lambda Chi Alpha and majored in accounting. Zach was there when Peter met his wife, Sydney, and was honored to be a part of their wedding as a groomsman. Peter has been a steadfast and good friend to Zach, and they share a love of sports, especially baseball. Zach is very thankful to call Peter a dear friend of his.
Lindsay Base -
Lindsay and Kalee became fast friends in 2014, when they both pledged Alpha Gamma Delta and were in the same Intro to Education class. Lindsay has always been the most fierce advocate of her friends, and for Kalee specifically throughout the last 10 years. She carved a place in her family for Kalee when she most needed it, and it is something that can never be repaid, but always valued.
Josh McPherson -
Josh is Zach's little brother by 4 years. The brothers grew up together doing Boy Scouts, playing multiple sports, and enjoying living in Kansas City. Zach was especially proud of Josh when he graduated with his mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State. Nowadays, Zach can always count on his younger brother when it comes to any project, big or small.
Kali Benoit -
Kali and Kalee met in college, and shared many memories--in addition to the same name! Kali has such an enthusiasm and love for all those around her, and has meant the world to Kalee for the last 10 years. Through all of life's winding roads, Kali has always been the most supportive of friends, and will always show up for those she loves most!
Kyle McPherson -
Kyle is Zach's youngest brother. The brothers grew up together doing Boy Scouts and enjoying living in Kansas City. Zach was especially proud of Kyle when he graduated with his Statistics degree from Mizzou in May of 2023. Both Zach and Kalee are always excited to see him when he visits KC, and are excited to see all the great things he will do!
Emily Moore -
Emily and Kalee first met via the KU Class of 2018 Facebook group, when they both realized they would be living on the same dorm floor and majoring in education. Since then, Emily and Kalee have been steadfast friends through all of life's changes and curveballs. Emily is the definition of a reliable and trustworthy friend, and is so important to both Zach and Kalee!
Colton Brown -
Colton is Kalee's younger brother, and Katlin's twin. Colton served in the US Marine Corps, and currently lives a quiet life in Southeast Kansas with his sweet girlfriend, Cait. Zach and Kalee are always excited to see him, either in Kansas City or SEK, and Zach is equally excited to gain another brother.
Amanda White -
Kalee and Amanda met at KU, but became close in the last couple years. As a fellow accountant and owner of cowboy boots, Zach immediately felt a kinship with Amanda as well. She has been an excellent friend to both Zach and Kalee for the last few years, and we are proud to have her as a member of our crew!
Holden Woodward -
Holden is Kalee's youngest brother. Holden is an absolute character, and has brought joy into Kalee's life since he was born. He is currently attending school and living in Wichita, KS, and has big goals for his future-- much to Zach & Kalee's pride and excitement.
