The mile high city has so much to see and do. Here are some good weekend recommendations. If you are extending your visit, please reach out for additional things to do!
Main Street Littleton is a 10 minute drive from the venue. There are many shops, resturants and bars on that street. A good starting point in your gps is in-Tea.
If you are a tea-oholic, in-Tea is the cutest tea shop to get loose leaf tea. They even have rolling ladders to get the teas located high up on the wall. Zoe has spent many hours working from the shop. Located at 2440 W Main St, it's a quick 10 minute ride as this is on Main Street.
If you are like Joe that think tea is dirty water and prefer coffee, Lost Coffee is a good alternative. They roast the beans on site so the smell is wonderful. Lost coffee is located 7 minutes away from the hotels.
Not only is Colorado home to Coors (~25 mins away and offers tours), but has the most micro breweries in the state. A one of a kind brewery close to the venue is Breckenridge Brwery (~6 minutes away) located on Platt river. You can walk, bike or even float on the river to get to it to enjoy yummy food and a brew.
There are so many beautiful outdoor parks to go to for a morning walk or an afternoon play area.
Zoe's favorite spot for all out of town guests is the Denver Botanical Gardens. The York street indoor/outdoor garden is ~45 minute drive. The smaller botanical garden, Chatfield farm, is ~15 minute drive.
Right by downtown littleton is Sterne Park. This park, located 10 minutes, away has a large playground for the kiddos a beautiful rose garden and is located next to the Littleton Mesuem.
Joe and Zoe's journey through Denver can be told through parks they lived by. First Zoe lived by Cheesman Park, which is connected to the Denver Botanical Gardnes. Then Joe and Zoe lived next to Washington Park. This cute neighborhood has a local coffee shop -- Wash Perk -- which was a perfect stopping point when walking to the two miles around the park. This park has a smaller playground for kiddos. We currently live by Sloan's lake, which is perfect for a run around the lake, watching the sunsets (while seeing the mountain outlines) and drinking a beer at the famous local brewery Odell's. All of these sites are roughly 25 minutes from the venue.
One of our favorite places to swim and paddlebaord is the Chatfield State Park. A quick 15 minute drive from the hotel will get you a beautiful mountain view where you can rent paddleboards and walk the trails.
A little further away, but worth the drive is the only national park in CO, Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a ~ 2.5 hour drive from the hotel. We recommend the
Emerald Lake hike or the Lake Haiyaha trail. Advanced Reservations are required for entry.
Whenever you think of Colorado, you think of Red Rocks! We have seen Widespread panic and All Time Low here. Outside of shows, you can hike some fabulous trails, workout on the steps of the venue, and check out the main street of Morrison. All of this is only 15 minutes away from the venue.
We do the Turkey Trot tail after work all of the time as you get beautiful views of the rocks. An easier trail at the red rocks amplithether is Red rocks Trading post. This easy, 1.6 mile loop will teach you about the geology around the way.
Another classic trail we bring people to hike is Maxwell Falls Trailhead located in Evergreen. There is a waterfall, some elevation, trees and forests, what more to you want. This cute mountain town is 30 minutes from the venue.
To see the origin of sleepy time tea, taste all of their teas, and take photos with the bear, stop in Boulder at Celestial Tea Factory. Between doing this tour over three times since 2015, it's been fun to see how its changed in the past decade. This is roughly an hour drive from the venue. Once in Boulder check out Pearl Street or other hikes in that area.
For those into history, you can take a free tour at the US Mint Factory. As this is one out of 6 Mints in the US, its worth the 25 minute drive. Zoe, Sally and Todd enjoyed learning and seeing how money is made here.
Or for those with a sweet tooth, take a free tour of Hammond's Candy Factory (~25 min drive). Not only did we see how lollipops are made, we also ended up buying 5 pounds of oops marshmallows.
We have spent numerous hours at the REI Flagship (~30 minutes) store purchasing new gear and shopping in their year round garage sale. They have three floors of products and an indoor rockwall! If you are looking for the TJ Maxx of outdoor gear, we LOVE shopping at Sierra Trading Post -- the best gear/clothing for a fraction of REI prices. The closest location is 15 minutes away at 5910 S University Blvd, Greenwood Village, CO 80121
An indoor playground for all ages is right by where we live in Sloan's lake, Meow Wolf (~25 minutes). There is are no words to truly describe what this interactive art space is. Reservations and ticket purchases are required.
