Our Wedding

It all started with two right swipes on Bumble. From there, it was together forever (except for those two months we don't talk about in the beginning) (Abby got scared but a night of tequila fixed that). It didn't take long for Dakota to convince Abby that living in DC was far better than Arlington, and they moved in together after only five months (at the time they thought it was six months, because math is hard). Immediately thereafter, a pandemic hit turning their one bedroom apartment into a school and office building, as well as living quarters. They found they genuinely enjoyed each other's company through 24/7 time spent together in those first few months, and the rest is history. Over the past few years life has included raising two (almost) perfect yorkies, a career change and graduate degree for Dakota, a blossoming career for Abby, a move to a new city, and a house. They enjoy spending time with the beans, working on their house, going to CrossFit, hosting friends for board games and good food, and watching sports. In the future, they look forward to traveling more and redoing their basement so that everyone can come visit. They are excited to take this next step in life together, and can't wait to celebrate with friends and family!

Check our President James Monroe's Tomb, visit President John Tyler's Monument, or just take a stroll through a shady, well-loved tourist location on the James River. Hollywood Cemetery is just around the corner from a local curiosities shop, Rest In Pieces. Find some macabre gifts for friends before you leave town.

Take a stroll through our favorite park. We will be having our ceremony here privately, come see why we picked it! You can pickleball, check out the disk golf course, or check out many trails. We often run the 1-mile Azalea loop. There is a farmers market on Saturday mornings (8am-12pm) throughout the year. Come early if you want to snag some goodies- its the most popular in town!

Bryan Park and Farmers Market

The James River is the place to be during hot, swampy summer days. There are many different places to swim or "lizard" on the rocks, and our favorite is Pony Pasture. Other notable spots are Belle Isle and Texas Beach. Bring your swim shoes and bathing suits! Rocks get slippery, so travel lightly. There is a parking lot, but it tends to fill up by about 10 am. NOTE: The river is dangerous after rain. Please check the water level before you go. You will notice that it tends to be around 5-7 feet on a normal day. While not free like the Smithsonian, Richmond has lots of museums to peruse throughout the day. -Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA): Free-The Poe Museum: $10 per person-The Science Museum: $17 per person-The Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia: $10 per person-Virginia Holocaust Museum: Free-Virginia Museum of History and Culture: $12 per person
