Brian and Abby met on Tinder in 2016, when Abby swiped right to reveal a match (even though Brian thought she was a bot)! She was in Sapulpa for the start of the summer before studying abroad, and Brian was in Tulsa about to start his master’s program at the University of Tulsa. Their first date was June 7th at Desi Wok in Tulsa, followed by Brian’s place where they played video games for hours on Brian’s virtual reality system, the Vive. They had a wonderful month together, before Abby left for Spain.

Two years later, against all odds, they reconnected! Brian had just moved back to New York City, and Abby was about to start her first year teaching in Edmond, Oklahoma. They flew back and forth for nearly a year to visit each other before Abby made the move to NYC in 2019, with lots of help from Brian. They weathered the pandemic in their NYC apartments, with low-key nights in, bike rides, and picnics in the parks. Brian proposed in November 2021 after three years of dating, at the start of their first vacation together: a cruise to Bermuda. Abby was so surprised with the scene that she turned on the lights, taking away from the candle-lit scene in the room. After a year and a half of planning, working, grad school, and enjoying the engaged life, Brian and Abby are ready to get married!
