In 2017 Alex left his hometown of Chicago to work for Toyota Motor Company based out of Dallas, TX. Two short years later on June 9,2019 he met Dallas native Emily over a beer at a sports bar where they bonded over their Midwest roots, Catholicism, and all-you-can-eat chicken fingers. As their date was ending, a gusty Texas summer storm blew in, so they decided to extend their time together (for safety 😉) playing board games at the bar. For their second date, Alex swindled Emily into going to an open skate at an ice rink, during which he skated circles around her but also did sweetly assist her up when she fell. Date 3 solidified their mutual deep love for spicy Thai food, even in the sweltering Texas heat. The original Thai restaurant they happened upon that day is now a weekly date night staple. Since that first open skate, Emily has enjoyed cheering on Alex to hockey victories..from the safety of the bleachers. Beer and fried chicken continue to be mealtime essentials.

Since 2019 Alex and Emily together have survived a global pandemic, fished the Chippewa flowage, driven Imogene Pass, camped in Broken Bow, hiked in Acadia National Park, and visited over 20 breweries. Alex proposed to Emily privately on a surprise neighborhood walk in December of 2022, immediately after which the heavens started pouring rain upon them - reminiscent of their first meeting. They are planning their wedding in Chicago, IL to better accommodate both Alex’s Illinois family and Emily’s family in nearby Wisconsin.
