If you know us, you know Mark is a good dresser, and Alex mostly wears a rotation of identical black tank tops. So, we meet in the middle to declare our wedding a "dressy-casual" affair. If you're not sure what that means, it's explained in some detail here: www.theknot.com/content/what-to-wear-dressy-casual
Are kids and/or plus ones invited?
While we love your kids and/or significant others, unless they were mentioned on your invitation, we will not be able to accommodate them.
I have a dietary restriction or allergy -- how can I let you know?
When you RSVP, you'll be prompted to send a note to us if you wish. You can use this space to let us know about any food-related needs, and we'll make sure our caterer gets this info.
When are RSVPs due, and how do I submit mine?
Please let us know if you can make it by September 7th by visiting the RSVP section of this website.
What's the deal with the toastmasters?
We got the idea of having "toastmasters" after attending Alex's cousin Michael's wonderful wedding in Denmark in 2023. We thought this Scandinavian tradition was a great way to involve our guests in the wedding in lieu of traditional wedding parties and to add to the fun of the reception dinner. Our toastmasters will introduce and coordinate wedding speakers throughout the reception. We're grateful to Alex's best friend, Hannah Roche, and her cousins, Katherine and Elizabeth Howard, for taking on this role!
Anyone is welcome -- and invited! -- to give a toast Saturday evening. Please email the toastmasters at toastmasters928@gmail.com by September 7th if you’d like to give a toast.
Why the Scandinavian themes?
Alex's late grandmother, Maj-Britt Nilsson Houston, was born and raised in Skåne, or Southern Sweden. Alex's dad and his siblings spent their summers there as kids, becoming bilingual and building close relationships with family. Alex and her cousins have made many trips to Sweden as well, maintaining family and cultural ties.
Mark was introduced to Swedish customs from the start, and made his first trip there in 2023. We're excited to honor this important part of Alex's family and to introduce our guests to some of our favorite food, drinks, and customs!
