The ADO bus is a great option for transportation around the region! We have taken it from Merida to Cancun (3.5hrs), It was a very comfortable and affordable option. They have a variety of comfort levels to choose from and offer this route frequently each day.
If you plan to fly into Cancun there are routes from the airpot to Merida. If you are staying in Cancun before the festivities there is a ADO terminal in City center. We were very impressed with how prompt and on time this service was when we were in town!
We recommend using Busbud.com and the mobile app to purchase these as it can be easier to navigate than ADO's website and app. There are also ticket sale counters at the terminals.
On one of our visits to Merida, we rented a car through this National Car rental branch and had a great experience!
We recommend using Ubers over taxis, but be mindful of the local rules surrounding Uber rides to and from airports as they can only pick you up outside of the airport. We have attached a link to help with this.
Merida's local airport (MID) is only 30 minutes outside of the city Centro and an hour from the venue.
Cancun's airport (CUN) is a 3.5hr bus ride from Merida, but offers a wider variety of routes/times in and out of the region.
