Q + A

How should we dress?

For footwear, keep in mind, this event takes place at a venue with gravel parking and in a field. Dress should be jacket and slacks and a nice dress. We aren’t going the whole 9 yards here! Remember where you are (on farm land in the mountains), the time of year (late fall, in the mountains) and the occasion (a fabulous wedding!) and you should be fine.

I’m vegan/vegetarian, will there be menu choices for me?

YES! We’re trying our best to offer a range of food and drink to meet dietary needs. If you have a special request please let Wayne or myself know.

I have a song I want to dance to, how do I make sure it makes it to the list?

Write it on your RSVP or mention it to the DJ during the reception.

Where should I stay if I want to spend the weekend in Asheville and be close to the venue?

Claxton Farm is a quick 15 minute drive from downtown Asheville. There are many lodging options! Check out the Travel section of the site for some ideas.

What is a time capsule? What do I bring?

A time capsule is a long practiced sentiment. Often notes, flowers, pictures or a cherished items of significance are placed in the box to be opened at a specific time in the future. We would like guests to bring things that remind them of us. For example, if Wayne used to always choose to play with a specific hot wheel, his mom or brother might want to put a similar car, or the actual car, to it in the box with a note about their memory. If you want to contribute something more general you could add a note remarking on your favorite part of the day. Pictures from the past are also a wonderful idea! Placing a picture with a note would be a personal and meaningful contribution.

Why did you postpone your wedding?

Hurricane Helene devastated the Asheville area on September 26, 2024. Thousands are left without homes and the death toll is currently 250+ with many families still looking for loved ones. The damage was unimaginable. Our venue was somehow saved from the flooding but lost water and electricity due to the nearby damage. They regained power several days after loosing it. The water, however, has no predicted period of restoration. Friends in Asheville have been told they might get water in a month’s time. There are also recent posts that Appalachian State University is not slated to reopen until Fall 2025! We’re hoping the venue, and area, will have somewhat recovered by the beginning of 2025. We will post updates here in the Q & A, offering brief descriptions on the home page.
