Alec and Allison broke up.
Friends since their sophomore year at William & Mary, they (brilliantly) decided to try dating 6 weeks before graduation. And while both were insanely happy during those 6 weeks, Alec was headed to China for a year and Allison didn't know where she'd wind up, so staying together seemed doomed to fail (...to Allison).
To absolutely none of their families' surprise, their "breakup" lasted all of 6 months officially (and all of 6 or 7 hours realistically). Even apart they found excuses to keep texting and talking until 2 am as Allison went to Northern Virginia and Alec decided to stay in Florida instead of going to China (a decision he made approximately 6 months before COVID broke out a few cities away from where he would have been). In November, when Allison finished up her job on a campaign and Alec settled into his new job in South Carolina, they reunited and decided to call a duck a duck.
For the next 3 years, Allison and Alec dated long distance, driving the 6 and a half hours between DC and South Carolina and back again every few weekends (and later, thanks to COVID, every few weeks). In July 2022, Alec got a remote position that allowed him to move up to the DC area, and the couple moved in together.
It didn't take long before they had a wonderful dog, Lance (adopted that August) and got engaged (early in March 2023).
Alec and Allison love traveling together to see new places and try new foods and restaurants. They enjoy cooking and baking together, finding shows and books to share, and playing games. Despite a rocky road in the last few months to the wedding, they've leaned on each other to roll with the punches and are incredibly excited to start their new chapter surrounded by friends and family.
