Letter in the aftermath of Helene

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know, on September 27th 2024 Western NC was slammed by hurricane Helene.

The devastation to towns, homes and lives were catastrophic.

The Biltmore Village was under 24 ft of water! The River Arts District (RAD) with all of it's shops and local artisans,

was 85% destroyed.

It hit during peak tourist season.

Many restaurants and hotels were damaged or destroyed.

It will take years to rebuild.

Asheville is resilient, but tired and weary.

The best way for us to help Asheville build again, is to support local businesses by providing patronage.

The list of hotels, restaurants and "Things to Do" and on this website was compiled before Helene.

We have decided not to edit it or change it.

We have provided phone numbers and addresses, and we ask that you confirm whether or not the business or park is open.

We know Chimney Rock park took a substantial hit and was particularly devastated.

We love Asheville dearly, and the face of it may have changed, but the heart remains the same.

We hope you will still see it's beauty, magic and allure.

We look at our wedding weekend as a way to help do our small part to help Asheville rebuild.

We are including links to donate to reputable charities to help Asheville rebuild.

(*If the links do not work, please just type information in your browser)

In lieu of wedding gifts, feel free to make a donation to one of these local charities.
