Chambers and Gibbs. Chibbs, one might say. A pair of quite the opposites in many ways, but so alike in others. Complimentary in the best of ways.
The Pacific Northwest girl and the Utah desert boy were fortunate to have our life paths cross in October 2021. After wading through the gauntlet of online dating, we met and sparked…a beer at a local SLC bar led to effortless flirtatious conversation, big smiles, and a second date just the next day! Our relationship blossomed from there...
We shared more meals, beers, laughs, and conversation.
We quickly developed nicknames for each other (NTT [Not Too Terrible = Gibbs] and BB [Barnacle Babe = Chambers] -- we can explain later).
We met and fell in love with each other’s incredible circle of friends and family.
We went on lots of river trips (Gibbs let Chambers come aboard his raft, welcomed her as a river partner, and taught her how to oar some rapids!).
We made many pounds of sausage together.
We ran, hiked, biked and skied with friends and dogs (Gibbs and Chambers both LOVE their dog Nala).
We spent weeks on the Big Island together, many hours of which were swimming adventures in the ocean.
This island and ocean part is a very important piece of our story. Though perhaps a wild idea, after dating for only 3 months, we took our first trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. Chambers said "Let's go to Hawaii, swim, explore, eat fruit and you can meet my dad…". We went for 10 days, adventure camping out of a small car we named “Kitten” (she really purred), and came back from the trip not wanting to escape each other, but rather with the beginnings of love. Our connection to the island and ocean, and the deepening of our connection to each other, was palpable. This connection has only strengthened through our numerous trips to this magical place, and Hawaii will continue to be an integral part of our life together.
On a recent trip to Hawaii, we asked ourselves the question, “Why not get married in this place so special to us, surrounded by the most important people in our lives?!” It just makes sense. It feels so right in our hearts. This place is us. We are incredibly grateful to get married in Hawi. We would be honored and excited beyond belief to celebrate and create memories with you here!
