Q + A

Where is the wedding? Where do we park?

--Our Wedding Mass is located at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi (at 11:30am)

--Our Hawaiian ceremony and reception are located at The HUB Barn (at 3:00pm). The Barn address is 55-514 Hawi Road in Hawi, directly behind the Kohala Village Inn.

--Please see map below. Guests may park in the area labeled "Main Parking" or follow the "Overflow Parking" signs to the area labeled "HUB Field".

**For those who do not want to park twice, we recommend parking at The Barn prior to the Wedding Mass and walking to the church. Walk should take no more than 10 minutes, distance of 0.5 miles.**

What do we do between the Wedding Mass and Hawaiian Ceremony?

We expect Mass to be finished around 1pm. Light snacks and water will be available at the church. For those interested, we recommend exploring Hawi town for additional food options and shopping. Please arrive to The Barn venue by 3pm.

Food ideas:

- KO Pizza offers pizza available by the slice, also salad and sandwich options

- Hawi Coffee Company offers coffee, smoothies, snacks, ice cream

- Kohala Grown Market offers smoothie and sandwich options, all locally sourced foods

- Plantation Market has a selection of local hot case items and deli options

What should we wear to the wedding?

Wear anything that you look and feel good in! You do you! Island inspired is welcome and encouraged (see matching outfits from the local ABC store below), or more formal works too. As long as you feel comfortable and ready to have a wonderful time, we are happy!

Did I read that correctly…you are getting married in Hawaii?

Yes, that is correct! Hawaii is a very special place to both Chambers and Gibbs. We have grown to love the Big Island of Hawaii, especially the North Kohala area. The wedding ceremony and reception will take place in the small town of Hawi on the north end of the island of Hawaii.

It is not lost on us that Hawaii is very far from where most of our family and friends live. It is not a small time or financial commitment to travel to Hawaii. We totally understand that traveling to Hawaii to celebrate our marriage is not feasible for all our family and friends. While we look forward to celebrating on the Big Island in January 2025 we do plan to have smaller gatherings to celebrate our love in Bellingham, WA and Salt Lake City, UT.

Do you have recommendations on travel dates?

We are hoping you will have time to turn this wedding into a vacation of your own! In terms of when to arrive, we are planning to have some group events (such as beach days) in the days prior to the wedding in order to spend some fun, casual time together and get to know each other! Hawaii also has endless beautiful places to explore, and we hope you will be able to take advantage of some of these opportunities (see Things To Do tab on the website). In terms of departure, we intentionally planned for a Friday wedding so people needing to return to work could travel home at a slightly more leisurely place. Our wedding happens to be on the Friday of MLK weekend, so it is likely that many will have the option of Saturday, Sunday, or Monday travel back to the mainland. Or extend your vacation and relax longer!!

Where should we stay? It is the “Big Island” after all.

We’ve put together a list of suggested places to stay in the Travel section but are happy to provide any guidance on where and how (i.e. Resort, AirBnB, camping) based on the type of trip you want to experience. Feel free to email or call Amber and Justin to learn more about the island and specific recommendations on lodging plans.
