Are kids under 12 invited to the wedding?
To allow all our guests to celebrate without worrying about little eyes and ears, we politely request no children under the age of 12.
When should we arrive in Telluride?
Although the actual wedding events don't happen until the weekend, we would be thrilled to have you join us earlier and make a ski vacation out of it! Andrea and Chris will be skiing and exploring the town the week before the wedding and would love to share that time with you.
What will the weather be like?
March is Telluride's snowiest month, with an average snowfall of 7.5" a week. Temperatures range from 41° in the day to 13° at night, so please dress accordingly.
What should I wear? Is there a dress code?
The dress code for our wedding is Formal (Black Tie Optional).
Ladies can wear full-length dresses or pantsuits. For gentlemen, a tuxedo is welcomed, but a dark formal suit and tie are also fine.
We highly recommend wearing a winter coat and snow boots for the ceremony since it will be held outdoors. The reception venue will have a place for you to put your winter gear to change into different shoes for the indoor reception.
Will the ceremony be outdoors?
Yes! The ceremony will be held completely outdoors on the top of a snowy mountain. Telluride, this time of year, is a beautiful winter wonderland. The Ceremony will be held on freshly groomed snow, and there will be chairs for all guests.
How do I get to the venue?
Please factor in about 20 minutes for the gondola ride! You'll need to catch the gondola from either the mountain village side or the town side, and you'll get off at the San Sophia Station at the top of the mountain, which is the halfway point. Once out of the gondola, you'll walk about 100 yards on groomed snow, and you're there!
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
We recommend that you arrive 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony to make sure everyone is on time and we can get the party started as scheduled. It takes 20 minutes to go up to the top of the mountain via the gondola. At the top of the gondola, head inside and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or hot apple cider while you wait for other guests to arrive. Once everyone has arrived and it's time to head out to the ceremony site, our wonderful wedding planner Kathleen will walk out with everyone.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, the bridal party will be taking pictures nearby for around half an hour. Guests can head back to the gondola area straight to the warm reception venue, where we will be serving beverages and cocktails.
What should I do if I can’t make it?
You will be missed! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no" on our website to plan accordingly.
Do I need to prepare for the change in altitude?
Altitude sickness may leave you feeling a loss of appetite, weakness, dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping (basically a bad hangover). Being 9,500 feet closer to the sun means there are a few rules to live by:
Stay hydrated! You should drink twice as much water as you would at sea level.
Chapstick and sunscreen are going to be your best friends.
Take it easy on the alcohol and avoid sleeping medication of the benzodiazepine family (they both suppress breathing and result in lower blood oxygen). One drink at 9,500 feet will feel more like two or three.
Avoid over-exertion for 1-2 days after arrival at altitude.
Gondola Map
The red stars are the two station stops for the gondola you will be taking to get to the wedding. One is in townside (if you are in our room block at Mountainside Inn you will be using townside), and the other is on mountainside which you would use if you are staying at The Peaks or any of the other luxury hotels on the other side of the mountain.
