Q + A
We keep adding to this page, so if you have any questions this is the first place to look!
What is the final destination airport?
Cancun International Airport is the closest airport to the wedding resort (1 hour away). We can arrange transportation to the resort at your request.
Guests arriving from overseas are finding more affordable tickets to Mexico City first and are then taking a local flight from Mexico City to Cancun. It's an option!
How do I get from the airport to Mayakoba resort?
As you exit the airport, there are many taxi/transportation companies willing to sell you round-trip tickets to and from the resort/desired destination. It should cost you $50 USD one way, $100 USD round trip to and from Playa Del Carmen,
If you are arriving with multiple people, we can help you arrange group transportation. Any families or friend groups can let Winnie or Andres know before May 30th if you would like to arrange transportation in advance.
Where is the wedding?
Our wedding is located in a coastal city called Playa del Carmen. It is a central location in the Riviera Maya where Cancun, Tulum, Chichen Itza (7th wonder of the world), Valladolid etc are just one hour away from each other.
The wedding events take place in an archaeological private zone called Mayakoba. Mayakoba has 4 luxury resorts within the property complete with a world-class golf course, canal's and cenotes running through the property, private beach access, bird wildlife and more. The wedding takes place in 2 of the 4 resorts. Andaz by Hyatt and Banyan Tree. The wedding events will be spread between the two hotels.
Which of the 4 resorts in Mayakoba am I staying in?
As the wedding events are happening at Andaz and Banyan Tree, a portion of the guests will be staying at Andaz and the other portion at Banyan Tree.
You will receive the hotel booking link in your inboxes shortly. Each guest has been placed in either Andaz or Banyan Tree, please book your accommodation by May 30th, 2024. This is a hard deadline.
How should I plan my trip?
I'll answer this by telling you what different people are doing. Some folks are booking a full week off, travelling in the Riviera Maya before the wedding and then attending the 4-day wedding at the end of their trip.
Some folks will only be attending the wedding arriving on Wednesday, July 31st afternoon and leaving on Sunday, August 4th.
Guests from overseas (Europe, Australia, The Middle East, Africa or India) are spending 2 weeks in Mexico/North America and are planning the wedding around their trip.
It's really up to you how you plan your trip. We're here to support you with suggestions/tips/advice. Anything you need from us to help you plan a fun summer vacation, we're just a text or ring away.

Is this wedding children friendly?
Yes! As of now, only children within our family are attending.
When booking your rooms, keep in mind that children under 5 years old are free. Children under 10 years old get a discount.
What temperature will it be at that time of year? What's the weather like?
HOT! Between 25 - 32 degrees Celcius, that's 77-90 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus, we're in a jungle so it's humid.
We apologize in advance if the heat is uncomfortable. This was a time of year when everyone would be available so we wanted to prioritize attendance. We are working to ensure there's tonnes of shade and hydration available at all day-time events.
Please remember to bring light and airy clothing for the events if you're sensitive to heat.
Can I leave the resort?
Absolutely! That's the unique thing about this resort. Most resorts in the Riviera Maya are in isolated locations where nothing else is around.
Mayakoba, on the other hand, is just 10 minutes from a small tourist city called Playa Del Carmen. Any time outside of the wedding events, you can arrange a taxi by calling the reception of your respective hotel. A one-way taxi trip (carrying max 4 people) to Playa Del Carmen costs 300 Mexican Pesos, equivalent to $15 USD. Some taxi's are vans that carry more people, the reception can arrange that as well.
All in all, taxi's are the most reliable and most convenient form of transportation when leaving the resort.
What is the currency in Mexico?
The answer is Pesos! Approximately 15 Pesos = $1 USD. 12 Pesos = $1 CAD
We recommend to carry US cash which you can easily exchange to Mexican Pesos. You can use American dollars or Credit Cards at the resort but we recommend to exchange USD to Mexican Pesos at the airport (Cancun International Airport). The airport has the best exchange rates.
Do I need a visa?
If you carry any European/Schengen, United States, Canadian visa or permanent residency, you do not need a Mexican Visa.
You will require a Mexican visa if you do not hold any of the above visas/residency permits. We will help you through the process, not to worry!
Are these resorts all-inclusive?
No, resorts at Mayakoba are not all-inclusive. There are several restaurants within each hotel (they are amazing!). You can book a reservation at any of the 4 resort restaurants (25+ restaurants) Mayakoba is expensive. Expect $30-50 USD per meal outside of the wedding events. But if you'd prefer a different option, Playa del Carmen is only a 10-minute taxi ride from Mayakoba where there are lots of options for food and drinks. You can also store food and drinks in your hotel room too!
Indian family/friends: If you'd like to bring some cha spices, feel free to make yourself a cup of cha if needed.
Do we have ocean access?
Yes! Mayakoba has the cleanest beaches in the Riviera Maya. You can swim or participate in any water sports. Speak to the reception/concierge for more info!
How to I get from resort to resort? How will we get to the events?
To move around in Mayakoba, the fastest way is to call the reception to book yourself a golf cart to pick you up. If you want to go to the beach, a specific restaurant or a different resort, they will take you anywhere at any time.
The entire resort has complimentary bikes available for guests to explore the resort.
There are also complimentary boat rides within the cenotes/ water canals from 9am - 5pm every day. Available on booking request to the reception.
I heard about a world famous restaurant at Mayakoba but it is not at the resort I'm staying in. How can I book a reservation?
On August 2nd we will not have a night-time event and guests are free to spend that night how they wish.
Some guests are excited to book dinner reservations at one of the world class restaurants at either of the 4 resorts at Mayakoba. To do this, you can just call the reception/concierge to help you book the reservation. Golf carts will take you to the respective hotel.
If you would like to spend this night in the city of Playa Del Carmen, a 10-minute taxi will take you there and back. There are lots of restaurants and shops, not to mention the notorious nightlife.
Do I have to attend every event?
Short answer is yes :) We have spent a lot of time, money and effort curating events that are unique to our story. Each event has meaning and tradition behind it. Indian weddings generally bring about all sorts of emotions and our only wish is that you are present, respectful and understanding. We sincerely hope that you enjoy every second of it!
What should I wear?
On the home page, you will see the wedding itinerary. Within each event, the 'Attire' section outlines the dress code.
Overall, it will be hot so it's best to keep your clothes light and breathable. We want you to come wearing what you love, outfits that are uniquely YOU.
The only call out would be for the Sikh Wedding. We ask that you wear something covering the shoulders and legs. It is a religious ceremony so clothing would need to be on the modest side.
Please feel free to message or call Andres or Winnie to help you understand what's acceptable. We're happy to help you brainstorm your outfits with you.
NOTE: If you are interested in wearing or purchasing one or more Indian outfits. Please contact Winnie as she can either buy it for you or guide you through understanding Indian outfits.
Am I able to pay for accommodation in installments?
The answer is no. Payments will have to be made via credit/debit card. For large groups (4-6 people), one person would have to make the payment and the rest can pay their dues to the initial payer. #venmo #paypal
Please let us know if you need any help with this.
Do you have a summary of the food provided at the wedding?

We are in Mexico. This area is heavily guarded with police and the military and it is safe. But this does not mean that danger does not exist. People will try to scam you for your money, it is important to use your best judgement when traveling around beautiful Quintana Roo.
