Getting to the island is half the fun!

Out-of-town guests should fly into the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) or Paine Field (PAE) and arrange transportation to San Juan Island.

The most common way to get to San Juan Island is the ferry from Anacortes, WA (1.5 hours north of Seattle) to Friday Harbor. Roche Harbor is about a 20 minute drive or taxi ride from there. Guests can park in Anacortes and walk onto the ferry without a reservation, or drive on with a reservation.

NOTE: Ferry reservations are required if you want to bring your vehicle to the island. The booking window is now open. Additional availability will be released two weeks before the date of travel at 7:00AM Pacific Time.

Take a scenic flight on a seaplane! Kenmore Air operates scheduled flights and charters from Lake Union in Seattle to Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor. Chartering a plane may be a good option if you're traveling with a group. Check for any luggage limits before booking.

Kenmore Air operates small airplanes from Paine Field (PAE) and Boeing Field (BFI) airports to the Friday Harbor Airport (FRD).

The Island Airporter shuttle operates Monday-Friday. The shuttle departs from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA), drives directly to Anacortes, WA, boards the ferry to Friday Harbor, and then drives to Roche Harbor.

The Bellair Airporter Shuttle provides daily service between SEA airport, Paine Field (PAE) airport, and the Anacortes ferry terminal. Travelers can purchase walk-on ferry tickets at the terminal.

While the San Juan Islands / Victoria ferry route is no longer in service, transportation directly between Canada and the San Juan Islands may still be an option! Kenmore Air is currently operating a flight between Victoria (YYJ) and Friday Harbor. Check the Kenmore Air website to verify available routes and luggage restrictions.
