Q + A

Do I need to purchase a lift ticket?

No, you do not need to purchase a lift ticket! The Bride and Groom will provide single-use lift tickets for everyone who RSVPs. After signing a waiver, you will collect your complimentary wrist band at the table next to CHAIR #1.

Are Children Allowed?

Yes! We warmly welcome all children ages 3 and up who are at least 36 inches tall to attend our wedding. However, please note that children under this height cannot ride the chair lifts required to access our ceremony. We do have a limited amount of seats available on a one way shuttle trip to/from the ceremony site. Please reach out to the bride to inquire. Reception welcomes all. Thank you for your understanding!

What is the dress code?

Our dress code is "Mountain Formal." Ladies, think longer dresses paired with boots—avoid pointy heels and go for flat, secure shoes. Once you exit the lift, a rocky path will guide you to Paradise. For the guys, a suit or dress pants with a button-up shirt will do the trick! Keep in mind, the weather at the top of the chairlift is cooler and windier than at the base. Expect daytime temperatures in the 50s-70s, with evenings dipping into the 40s. We recommend bringing a light jacket. Rain or shine, we’ll be tying the knot!

How long is the chair lift ride to ceremony?

The chair lift ride to the ceremony site takes approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on any brief stops along the way. The resort recommends guests arrive 45-60 minutes before the ceremony starts. Upon arrival, guests will need to sign a waiver to receive a wristband to ride the scenic chairlift. Once you exit the lift at the top, there is a short walk—approximately 10 minutes—down to the ceremony site. We strongly encourage everyone to arrive early to allow ample time for check-in, restroom use, and a smooth ride up the mountain. There is one porta potty located at the top, but we recommend using the restrooms at the base area before boarding. Thank you for planning ahead and helping us ensure a timely and relaxed start to the celebration!

Will the Cocktail hour and Reception be indoors?

Our reception will be held indoors, while the ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outside. Please plan accordingly for the weather.

What if I get altitude sickness?

Our wedding venue is at a high altitude, with the ceremony taking place at about 10,800 feet and the cocktail hour/reception at 8,793 feet. Durango itself sits at 6,529 feet. If you’re not used to high altitudes or are prone to altitude sickness, we recommend acclimating your body by spending a night or two in Durango before the wedding. Drink plenty of water, take it easy when increasing elevation, and give your body time to adjust. We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable journey to our big day.

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Yes! Check out the Lodging tab where you can find information on how to reserve a room using our special discount code! Purgatory offers studios and 1-5 bedroom condos, all within walking distance to our venue.

Is the Ceremony Wheel-Chair Accessible?

Unfortunately, no. Our ceremony is located in the middle of a ski run, accessible only via the Purgatory Express chair lift. While most guests will need to take the chair lift to the ceremony, we do have a limited shuttle ride reserved for young bridal party members and grandparents. If you have accessibility concerns, please reach out to us so we can discuss arrangements to ensure you can comfortably attend.

Can I bring a plus one or a friend?

Due to limited space and planning considerations, we kindly request that only those specifically named on the invitation attend. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to celebrate with you!

Where do I RSVP?

Formal invitations will be sent out closer to our special day, where you’ll be able to RSVP and select your meal choices. If you need to decline before receiving your invitation, please feel free to reach out to the Bride or Groom directly. We appreciate your response!
