Exploring Windsor & Kingsville
For our guests traveling from out of town, we're so happy you're making the trip to celebrate with us! The Windsor-Essex region, especially Kingsville, has a lot to offer. Since you'll be here for a couple of days in November, here are a few ideas for things to see and do between wedding events.
November weather in this area can be cool, so indoor activities are a safe bet, but if the weather is crisp and clear, enjoying some outdoor sights is lovely too!
In Kingsville (Where the Reception is!)
Kingsville is a charming town, especially known for its wineries and breweries.
Winery Visits: You'll be at a winery for the reception, but the Kingsville area is part of the Lake Erie North Shore (EPIC) wine region, with many wineries to explore! Many offer tastings and tours. Consider visiting:
Pelee Island Winery (their mainland location is in Kingsville).
Mastronardi Estate Winery.
Aleksander Estate Winery.
North 42 Degrees Estate Winery (also has a restaurant).
Breweries: If beer is more your style, Kingsville has a growing craft brewery scene.
The Grove Brewing Company.
Banded Goose Brewing Company.
Kingsville Brewery Taphouse.
Downtown Kingsville: Stroll along the main street for unique shops, cafes, and restaurants. You can find everything from bakeries and coffee shops to various dining options. Red Lantern Coffee Co. is a local favourite for a coffee break.
Kingsville Lakeside Park: If the weather is cooperating, this park offers paved walking paths and views of Lake Erie.
In Windsor (Near the Gurudwara)
Windsor is a larger city with a variety of attractions.
Windsor Waterfront: Take a walk along the Detroit River. The Windsor Sculpture Park is located here, featuring interesting large-scale art installations with views of the Detroit skyline. Dieppe Gardens is also along the waterfront.
Walkerville Neighbourhood: This historic area is known for its unique architecture, shops, restaurants, and breweries/distilleries. It's a great spot for a meal or a drink.
Art Gallery of Windsor: Located downtown on the waterfront, it houses a significant collection.
Willistead Manor: Explore the grounds and exterior of this historic mansion in the Walkerville area.
Caesars Windsor: If you're feeling lucky or looking for entertainment options, the casino is downtown.
Restaurants: Windsor has a diverse culinary scene, from Italian to Lebanese and more. Popular spots mentioned include Neros Steakhouse (at Caesars), Spago (Italian), and Mazaar (Lebanese). The Cook's Shop is another option for Italian fine dining. For casual eats, Windsor is known for its pizza!
Things to Consider for Friday & Saturday:
Friday (Gurudwara Ceremony): The ceremony will likely take up a good portion of the late morning and early afternoon, including breakfast/tea and Langar (lunch). [As per your timeline]. Before or after the Gurudwara events, guests could explore nearby Windsor attractions or head towards Kingsville
Saturday (Reception): The reception starts in the late afternoon/evening at the winery. This leaves the daytime free for exploring either Windsor or Kingsville. Guests could visit more wineries, explore downtown Kingsville shops, or drive up to Windsor for some city sights, museums, or shopping before heading back to Kingsville for the reception.
We hope this gives you some ideas for how to enjoy your time in the area! Safe travels and we can't wait to see you!
