(The story as told by Clark, your humble narrator)

As you all know I am very shy and reserved, some might even say timid.

(ok ok I will be mostly honest from here on out)

So I see this girl in my building...

The first time I saw her she was with two other young ladies, I presumed were her Mom and possibly her aunt. At a distance I could hear them speak, but I could not pick up the language, I assumed she was eastern European.

(the blond hair threw off my exceptional powers of deduction)

Spoiler alert --- Turns out she isn't Polish.

Since I know what I don't know, I wasn't about to approach her while she was with Mama and Amma Lili, that just wouldn't be polite.

So I would see this lil Polish girl from time to time but she would never, and I mean never make eye contact (very NYC of her). This went on for quite some time, even if we were in the same elevator.

(I mean come on! Who doesn't like to chat it up in the elevator???)

One day I am working out in the gym that overlooks the pool and I see her show up. I wrap up and head on down to the pool and place myself right in her field of view

(she must see me now)

NOPE!

So I walk over and kneel down and say

Can I ask you a question...
