6-10pm, Lake Terrace - outdoor
Event Details
This event is essentially a dinner and pre-wedding party!
The Sangeet night begins with select family members and friends performing choreographed dances to celebrate the upcoming wedding. This evening is not just about watching others perform - soon enough, you'll find yourself joining the dance floor, learning some popular Indian dance moves, and enjoying the festive ambience!
The Jaggo Ceremony takes place during the Sangeet night, and involves carrying a beautifully decorated clay pot, known as the 'Jaggo,' while dancing and singing traditional folk songs. This joyous ritual symbolizes the excitement surrounding the union of two families. Traditionally, the Jaggo is carried from house to house in a neighborhood, announcing the upcoming wedding and inviting friends and neighbors to join in the celebrations. Although we won’t be in the suburbs of Portage, we will be bringing this heartfelt tradition to stunning shores of Cancún!
Throughout the evening, we invite all female guests to partake in the experience of Mehndi, skillfully executed by local henna artists onsite! Mehndi, aka henna, is a reddish-brown paste that leaves designs lasting for about a week. This wedding mehndi serves as a reminder of the exciting occasion and the bond of love shared between friends and family.
