Baraat - The Groom's Journey to the Ceremony
The Baraat beings the auspicious day and sets the tone with high energy and celebration. The groom arrives to the ceremony on a white horse with guests dancing around him to the beat of a dhol, an Indian drum.
Milni - The Union of Two Families
During the Milni, the bride's family greets the groom's family, exchanging floral garlands to wear around their necks, to symbolize two families uniting.
Anand Karaj - The Sikh Marriage Ceremony
Anand Karaj, the "blissful union", unites two souls, unified in love, respect, and devotion as they embark on their shared journey of life. This sacred ceremony celebrates the couple, as they pledge to support and uplift each other in the presence of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book.
Lunch
Following the ceremony, friends and family come together to share a meal, and of course, take photos with the newlyweds!
Attire
The dress code for this event is modest and formal. We request our guests refrain from wearing the color pink, as it is the color of the bride's dress.
As a show of respect in a religious place, please wear clothes that cover your legs and shoulders (short sleeves are fine). Additionally, please keep in mind that you will be sitting on the floor for the ceremony.
