Street and Co: fancy, seafood-based restaurant; make reservations.
Gilbert's Chowder House: fish and chips, lobster rolls, clams, etc; right on the water.
J's Oyster: similar to Gilbert's, classic seafood pub fare.

Fore Street: a Portland institution, one of the best in the area; make reservations. (PRICEY)
Central Provisions: a new, fantastic small plate restaurant; doesn't take reservations, expect a wait. (PRICEY)
Petit Jacqueline: a great West End Bistro with authentic French fare.
Caiola's: cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant in the West End.
Piccolo: excellent southern Italian restaurant in the Old Port.
Hugo's: excellent, creative food; sister restaurants with Eventide. (PRICEY)
The Corner Room: really good Italian food downtown.
Grace: nice restaurant in an amazing, renovated old church. (PRICEY)
Flatbread: delicious brick oven pizzas, right on the water.

Aurora Provisions: good sandwiches from a little gourmet market.
Duckfat: delicious sandwiches and salads; duckfat fries are a requirement (sit down, usually)
Otto's : really good, well-priced pizza on Congress St.
Bonobo: more really good pizza in the West End.
