Our story opens on two twenty-somethings, living it up in the heart of New York City.
For years, Brianne and Tyler lived within 20 blocks of each other and never knew it.
Imagine the number of times they must’ve been on the same subway, opposite sides of the street or grabbing drinks at Harlem Public.
These two were the epitome of passing ships in the night.
All of that changed one evening in November, 2016 when their mutual friend, Donna, held her annual Friendsgiving party. In a room full of mutual acquaintances, Bri and Tyler found each other and started talking. They quickly bonded over their love of the outdoors, snowboarding, food, films, music, sports, fantasy football, etc... they obviously had a lot in common. They met for drinks a couple of weeks later and then with the holidays and traveling, they drifted apart.
Fast forward to a very snowy day in March, 2017. The City was on blizzard watch and Bri got a surprise invitation to go on a snowboarding adventure with Tyler to Mount Snow in Vermont. In a crazy trust fall, Bri and Ty pulled an all-nighter, drove through the blizzard and spent the next two days snowboarding in 24” of fresh powder in Vermont. You would think that would seal the deal, but they both led busy lives and couldn’t seem to meet up again.
Third time’s a charm! When spring came around, our good friend Donna asked Bri if she would like to play softball in her co-ed restaurant league. Being the competitive person she is, Bri thought ‘how hard could it be?’ Turns out, while Donna is a fantastic softball player…Bri not so much. However, on the first day of practice, who ended up being on her team, the Sons of Pitches? None other than Tyler. Whether it was the way he ran like a gazelle in center field, sliding like a Premier League footballer to make an insane catch or the way Bri walked up to the plate looking like lady Hercules from CrossFit, we’ll never know, but something clicked.
Needless to say, from then on they spent a lot of time together. From playing softball, to starting a fantasy football league, to short trips up the Hudson valley, to international vacations, they’ve grown close together.
When COVID hit in 2020, it solidified their budding notion that home is wherever the other is.
They left the City they had been in for over a decade and embarked on a new adventure across the United States to Montana. Brianne’s family has its roots in Helena where she spent many summers here growing up.
To both of their surprise, as they entered Western Montana, they looked at each other and immediately decided to trade the hustle and bustle of New York City for the wide expanse of peaceful mountains in Montana.
Every day since then has been a whirlwind of building their lives together.
Bri found a fantastic company that shares her passion for storytelling, camaraderie and beverages and Tyler started a growing company called Big Paw Concrete Coatings, named after their two Newfoundland boys Obi and Apollo.
They spend their time snowboarding in the winter, hunting and hiking in the fall, and fishing and wakeboarding at the cabin in the spring and summer with their pups.
Life may never slow down, but Bri and Tyler have each other to work through the hard times and celebrate the best.
Helena, MT has become their new home and they are so in love with ‘The Last Best Place’ that they would like to share it with you.
Tyler and Bri would like to thank you all for being a part of this day as they continue their big life adventure together.
Cheers to Forever!
