One day in 2014, while serving fajitas and chimichangas in a Pennsylvania Mexican restaurant, Brigette received a phone call that, unbeknownst to her, would change her life. There was an opening at Pope John High School for a Theology teacher and they wanted her to come in for an interview.

Brigette showed up a few days later and while waiting for her interview saw a gentleman walk in to the principal’s office and close the door. She then heard him say, “this one looks nervous.” Ironically, these were the same words she thought to herself years later while vacationing with him in Maine hours before they got engaged.

Brigette and Brian’s paths crossed often at Pope John while working on various projects together such as food drives and retreats but it wasn’t until after some serious encouragement from their colleagues that they started dating.

Their “secret work relationship” continued for two more years before Brigette took a new job and for the first time the word about Miss Hanley and Mr. Vohden was out.

Brigette and Brian got engaged in Bar Harbor, Maine in July on the Somesville Bridge, a picturesque spot Brigette first learned of from a painting in her grandmother’s house.

Their Catskill wedding at Hunter Lake is the summer home Brian has enjoyed with his family for generations -- a legacy begun by his great-grandfather.
