So you arrived into Porto Seguro wooop woop! You now need to make your way to Arraial d'Ajuda. If you have insta follow this guy here for tips on what to do and how to get around ( all in portuguese but you can translate on insta)
The easiest and fastest way to get to Arraial is by catching the ferry. The passenger only ferry runs every 30 minutes until 18;00, the car one runs 24 hrs. Passengers pay R$5.40 to Arraial but free on the way back.
You have two options on how to get to get the ferry:
You can grab an uber or taxi to the ferry wharf . Get on the ferry as a foot passenger ( there’s a passenger only ferry and a shared one with cars). This costs R$5.40 per person. Then on the other side grab another taxi to your hotel ( no Ubers in Arraial) . This is by far the quickest option , but not ideal if you have suitcases to drag along and obviously don’t be expecting a 1st world ferry 😂 it’s a Brazilian organised mess so if you stress out easy I do not recommend this option. See some pictures below.
The second option is booking a transfer taxi, that takes you on the ferry. This is the most convenient way, however because it’s a bank holiday weekend you are likely to be stuck in a queue of cars trying to get onto the ferry. This option can cost around R$200-250 for a 4 seater but I am trying to get a fixed priced for everyone, this will include the fee for the car and the passengers.
Please see Car ferry times below:
There's no ubers in Arraial, so you have 3 options to get around:
1. Walking
2. Taxis ( Which I recommend everyone books for the Beach day party, as that beach is a little further away)'
3. Vans - This is basically the public transport that everyone gets around on. It cost R$5 from the ferry wharf to the city centre, and then R$ 10 if you are going to the further away beaches. I recommend you carry some cash for this, as the Brazilians pay using PIX ( which is a quick transfer tech that Brazilian banks use) but unfortunately they don't take card payments. I don't recommend getting this when you first arrive, as they can be very full but its a super easy way to get around just make sure you make it clear to the driver where you are wanting to go and they will drop you off at the nearest stop. Again this is a brazilian organised mess, so if you stress out easily maybe not the best option for you.
