Although they lived across the street from each other for almost two years, it was not until the summer of 2020 when a worldwide pandemic brought Evan and Caroline together. With nothing to do and nowhere to go, they both would sit outside on their front lawns every day reading books. And thus, unbeknownst to them at the time, they were each given the same nickname; that cute girl across the street became “Book Girl,” and the handsome guy “Book Boy.” Soon enough, both houses started hanging out, and the connection between Book Boy and Book Girl grew, officially dating a few weeks later.

However, at the end of the summer, Evan returned home to Cincinnati to start working while Caroline stayed in Columbus to complete her Master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology at Ohio State. Even though they had only been seeing each other for a couple of months, they both knew there was something special between them, and agreed to give long distance dating a try. For the next two years, every other week they would rotate one coming up to Columbus and the other going down to Cincinnati. It was not easy, but it is true that distance makes the heart grow fonder, with each visit being more anticipated than the last.

Thankfully, after two long years, Caroline finished her Master’s program and received her dream job offer at a rehabilitation hospital in Cincinnati. After a year in her own apartment, Evan and Caroline moved in together, and in October 2024 on their first trip to Europe together, Evan proposed in Greece along the Aegean sea, with the sun setting in the background.

After two years of long distance and nearly five years together, Evan and Caroline are thrilled to finally get married in front of all of their dearest friends and family.
