Mandatory Fun

What do you mean, mandatory fun?

A joking phrase used by the Ohana, "mandatory fun" is how we're describing the audience participation portions of the reception. They are, of course, by no means mandatory, but very much encouraged! The more participation, the more fun will be had by all.

Below, you'll find a plethora of videos (with more on the way!) featuring songs and dances that will feature throughout the evening of merriment. Watch at your leisure, feel free to suggest or request other fun moments, and prepare with us!

Copperhead Road

A line dance that featured heavily in Caroline's college days, Copperhead Road is simple and easy to learn for even beginner line dancers. This video will show you how to dance to this country tune.

Cupid Shuffle

Nowadays a staple line dance for most parties, think of the Cupid Shuffle as an updated Electric Slide (don't worry - we'll do that one too!). Here's a tutorial video, and if you're looking for the actual song track to practice to, click here.

Cotton Eyed Joe

The Cotton Eyed Joe is known throughout the South as a '90s country staple, but there is much variation from area to area on what dance to do. The version Caroline has done in college and at Disney is athletic but pretty easy to learn, though surprisingly hard to find a video of! Here's the best one they could find.

Wobble

Probably the most recent true "line dance" to gain massive popularity, the Wobble is easy to learn and easy to personalize. Check out this video for the how-to, and then feel out your groove to the actual track by clicking here.

Samba Line Dance

A favorite of Caroline's in her post-college competitive ballroom career, this samba line dance is easy for anyone to pick up, even without any ballroom knowledge. Caroline herself will be making an instructional video for this dance, so stay tuned!

Rattlin' Bog

Rather than a dance to learn for the wedding, this will be a sing-along interactive portion of the evening before at the Meet and Greet. The Rattlin' Bog is a traditional Irish patter song that will be performed live by the wedding party, headlined by the brother of the bride, Jonathan Medley, on guitar. To be able to sing along with them, learn the lyrics to this rollicking, repeating song.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Now officially considered a tradition at Ohana weddings, Bohemian Rhapsody is just one of many songs representative of Stephen's favorite era of music: classic rock. They're sure everyone already knows the words, but the couple wants to be sure all feel included when it comes time to rock out to this epic hit.

Sweet Caroline

This one goes without saying - it will be played, everyone knows it, but to this crew, it has a special meaning.

More to Come!

Have a dance or a song you'd love to see everyone get out on the floor and jam to? Send it to us! We'd love to hear what music is special to you.

Social Media

Our Dream Wedding...

...has no cameras, phones, or electronic devices showing in our ceremony pictures! We are asking that everyone buy into an unplugged ceremony (save our professional photographer, of course) and leave their phones in their pockets, purses, and jackets for just half an hour out of the day. This is time we want to share with each and every one of you, living in the moment and savoring every minute.

That being said, any pictures you do take - before the ceremony, at the reception, while traveling to or from, et cetera, et cetera - we would love to see them! Please use the hashtag #raiseaglasstofreeman when posting on social media so we'll be able to see all of your wonderful memories pieced together across the Internet.
