San Diego is one of the best cities to visit in the Country - there is something for everybody here! A few of our favorites that may interest you are:

Museums:

- USS MIDWAY (Post WWII through Desert Storm Aircraft Carrier; plan on 3-4 hours).

- Maritime Museum (Star of India (Sailing Clipper), USS Dolphin (submarine), HMS SURPRISE (from Master & Commander movie), San Salvador (Spanish ship that discovered San Diego), California (two masted Revenue Cutter), Swift Boat from Vietnam War, and others.

- Balboa Park museums (Air & Space, Science Center, Natural History, Art, Sports, Train, etc. (17 in all).

Zoos/Amusement Park:

- San Diego Zoo (this will take all day to visit and is part of Balboa Park.)

- San Diego Zoo Safari Park (San Diego has two zoos – this one is very large with enclosures large enough to see giraffes run across a valley and has a zip line). 34 miles north and inland

- Seaworld. (Mission Bay)

Shopping/Restaurants

- Gas Lamp District

- Seaport Village

- Little Italy

- Old Town

- Liberty Station

- Coronado

- La Jolla

Beaches:

Mission Beach (with wooden roller coaster), Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Torrey Pines, and others up the Coast.

Tours

- Harbor Tours.

o Several options that start just north of MIDWAY Museum; the longer the tour, the more of the harbor you will see.

o Combined land/harbor tour (“Seal Tour”), departs Seaport Village,

o Patriot Jet Boat tour (high speed).

- Trolley Tour (hop on/off over 11 stops around the city and Coronado).

Additional Adventures:

- There are at least 4 different Segway tours available.

- Jet Ski rentals available in San Diego Harbor and in Mission Bay.

- Sail boat, surfing, rowing, stand up paddle board rentals – west side of Mission Bay.

- Torrey Pines State Park for hiking/beach walking.

- Bicycling – beach cruisers (recommend Coronado or Mission Bay); road bikes – anywhere (San Diego is a biking mecca)

- Tijuana, Mexico – 18 miles south

- Temecula Wineries – 65 miles north inland
