We met on the internet in a conversation that started about our favorite pens (yes, writing ones), board games, and love of animals. We both had profiles with outdoorsy photos -though Cass's was a little over the top - and it seemed we could have some alignment on what to do in our downtime. We both wanted to travel more and found we shared a love of National Parks.

Cass was just returning from a trip to Mexico when she came home to a very sick pup. After dropping Hawk off to the emergency doggy hospital awaiting results of xrays and labs, Drew suggested meeting for a drink and some boardgames to take her mind off of it. We met at a local patio to enjoy the sunshine and play some boardgames while sipping ciders. After several hours taking note how pretty the other persons eyes were, we realized it was getting late and we really needed to eat. We hopped next door to Hey Love to grab a bite and talked (and snacked) for several more hours. April 1, no longer a fools day, but our meeting date!

The next day we met up to walk Luna, while Hawk stayed in the doggy hospital, hoping to admire the cherry blossoms. The blossoms had disappeared almost overnight, but we ended up just walking the waterfront loop on a lovely spring evening.

From there on we saw each other a few times a week for dinners, mostly cooked together, the occasional concert or event and boardgames. Before long we were planning to include Drew in Cass's trip to Hawaii.

The Hawaii vacation sealed the deal. We traveled without killing each other, enjoyed multiple tropical adventures, and settled into being a couple.

New Year's Eve 2022 we went to look for the Santas, a Portland tradition, and Cass asked Drew to be her forever human - giving him a placeholder ring.

In July 2023 Drew got to visit Sitka to see where Cass grew up and meet friends and see family. He lucked out and got the best weather possible enabling trips in the boat, camping, and small town 4th of July activities.

In August of 2023 Drew proposed to Cass with his grandmothers ring at their favorite dog walking spot, Powell Butte Nature Park. She has a love of vintage and sentimental keepsakes and it was perfect!
