Crawley

Crawley is a large town and borough in West Sussex, England. It is 28 miles (45 km) south of London, 18 miles (29 km) north of Brighton and Hove, and 32 miles (51 km) north-east of the county town of Chichester. Crawley covers an area of 17.36 square miles (44.96 km2) and had a population of 106,597 at the time of the 2011 Census.
The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and was a centre of iron working in Roman times. Crawley developed slowly as a market town from the 13th century, serving the surrounding villages in the Weald. Its location on the main road from London to Brighton brought passing trade, which encouraged the development of coaching inns. A rail link to London opened in 1841.
This is the church where we will have our ceremony!
Crawley's oldest church is St John the Baptist's, between the High Street and the Broadway. It is said to have 13th-century origins, but there has been much rebuilding (especially in the 19th century) and the oldest part remaining is the south wall of the nave, which is believed to be 14th century. The church has a 15th-century tower (rebuilt in 1804) which originally contained four bells cast in 1724. Two were replaced by Thomas Lester of London in 1742; but in 1880 a new set of eight bells were cast and installed by the Croydon-based firm Gillett, Bland & Company.

Located on the south coast of England, less than an hour from London by train, Brighton is one of the UK’s most popular destinations.
Whilst it has long been known as a seaside resort, there is far more to Brighton than just fish and chips on the beach!
With fantastic transport links and a variety of world-class hotels and venues all within walking distance of each other, Brighton combines a coastal location with a quirky city atmosphere.
Whether it’s the sea air, the South Downs National Park, or year-round festivals – there’s something for everyone in Brighton. There’s even a Royal Palace, built as a monument to decadence and proof that the city has been at the forefront of entertainment and hospitality for over 200 years.
Brighton and Hove are also renowned for quirky shopping areas, diverse cultural, music and arts scene, plus its large LGBTQ+ population, leading to its title of the ‘unofficial gay capital of Britain’.
Under an hour by rail from London and 30 minutes from London Gatwick Airport, everything is within walking distance with thousands of hotel rooms close to major Brighton conference centres and venues.
With strengths in creative technology, health and life sciences, plus environmental studies, Brighton is a destination of choice for inspirational events.

About the Pub
This late-15th-century timber-framed hall house has performed many roles in Crawley's history, from its early use as a farmhouse to its 20th-century commercial uses: a tearoom, a bank and now a public house. The original structure has been beautifully restored and a tasteful extension erected to enlarge the bar area and add a well covered smoking area.
This pub is busy, especially Friday and Saturday when there is a disco and the age profile at these time is younger, although at other times there is a wide age group coverage.
