Christa and Zach met in September 2013 on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. They met in the East Village before heading to a comedy show. Conversation was awkward at first. Christa had recently read the Four Agreements and had committed to being "impeccable with her word" and was talking minimally. Zach had been advised by his coworker at Island Restaurant to ask lots of questions and let her do all the talking. Crossing the Williamsburg bridge on board the J train, Christa admitted her newly minted personal intention and the distance between them shrank allowing an easy back and forth to begin. They arrived in Bushwick at the comedy show, set up after hours in a coffee shop with cans of PBR on ice for refreshment, already having realized that they had found a special new connection. Midway through the night of comics, one of the joke-tellers, while disparaging the concept of monogamy, singled them out to accuse them of having a happy marriage: "First date actually," one of them replied. Six years later that comedian's act has become prophetic.
