Drive around Lake San Cristobal
This is the lake our city is named after. Check out the recently opened peninsula bridge. There are places in town to rent a paddle board, kayak, or boat for the day.

Drive to Windy Point Overlook
This view point, a separate drive from the lake itself, is a scenic spot to take in the surrounding beauties. Particularly great to go stargazing on a clear night.
Get a sweet treat at the San Juan Soda Shop
We love this place for its old timey feel and extensive sweets menu. Be warned- this place is so good there's often a line!
Sit and enjoy the nature at The Hinsdale County Park
You don't have to go far to enjoy nature here- it's everywhere. Even this park, located right across from our store/the wedding venue has a path that takes you down to view the powerful river that passes through our town.
Hinsdale County Museum
For the history lovers out there, this can be a sweet stop.
Check out the epic North Clear Creek Falls
This spot, about 45 min away, is perfect for no-effort nature. The main view of a sprawling waterfall is from the parking lot- no hike necessary. That said, if you’re looking for a hike, there is also the South Clear Creek Falls trail.
Stroll the shops on Silver Street
Downtown Lake City has art galleries, rock shops, and antique stores that
Rent an ATV to check out the wilderness
If you're feeling adventurous, getting an ATV from Pleasant View Resort is a great way to go. Lake City is an ATV hot spot, with lots of dirt roads to go down and take you into the mountains. Make sure to get clear directions and only go as far as you feel comfortable you can find your way back- there's little to no reception around here.
Check out the the old gold mines off of County Road 20
There are structures that can still be seen today outside the no longer functional mines. Note- we'd only recommend heading this way in an ATV or 4wd vehicle with high clearance. Leave your Prius in town.
Get breakfast at The Lake City Bakery or Breakfast Euphoria!
Both are great!
The Bakery gives you a quick grab-n-go option, while Euphoria allows you to sit and enjoy your eggs benedict with a mimosa.
Take a hike
None of the hikes around here are rated "easy" on the All Trails app. Expect some scrambling up boulders and steep inclines. That said, you can always start a trail and turn back. The Fanny Fern Mine trail leaves from town and is easy at first with a viewpoint not far in. It later becomes fairly steep, with the pay off being a visit to an old mine.
Stay up to take in the stars
There's little light pollution here. Stargazing here is about as good as it gets! We are known for our 'Dark Skies'.
