Q + A

What is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. Since we have a limited guest list, timely responses really help us stay organized. The official deadline to RSVP is January 10th, 2026. Thank you!

Can I bring a plus one?

Sadly, no. We wish we had room for everyone’s partners, but with such a small venue and guest list, we had to be really strict about keeping it to the people we know personally and closely. It’s not a reflection on anyone—just a space issue. We hope you understand.

Is there Uber or Lyft on Gabriola?

Sadly, no! Transportation options are limited, so consider renting a car or coordinating with friends/family. There is a bus called the Gertie! We are currently looking into chartering it to get people to and from the event and if we do, will send out more details closer to the time!

Can I Bring My Children?

Sorry, no! This is a children free event! No babies, little ones, or anyone not on the invite.

Is there cell phone service on Gabriola?

For the most part, yes! But also a little bit no. We suggest screenshotting your maps or downloading routes and details before you get going. We found the service/data to be a bit spotty, especially on some of the quieter roads. Keep that in mind when planning/travelling please!

How do I get to Gabriola Island?

You’ll first want to get to Nanaimo, which is accessible by ferry or flight. From there, catch the Gabriola Island ferry from the downtown Nanaimo Harbour terminal. It’s a quick 20-minute ride! Fun fact: you only have to pay for the ferry on the way there.

How do I get to Nanaimo?

You can fly into Nanaimo (YCD), Victoria (YYJ), or Vancouver (YVR). Nanaimo has direct flights and is the most convenient. If flying into Vancouver, note that you’ll need to take two ferries (Vancouver → Nanaimo → Gabriola), so allow for extra travel time.

Do I need to reserve the Gabriola ferry in advance?

The Gabriola ferry does not take reservations for walk-ons or vehicles—it’s first come, first served. If you're bringing a car, try to arrive early during busy times.

Should I stay in Nanaimo or on Gabriola?

Either works! Nanaimo offers more hotel options and flexibility, while staying on Gabriola means you won’t need to worry about ferry timing the day of the wedding and you'll be able to dance all night long with us. Both are great—just pick what suits your travel style best and be aware that if staying in Nanaimo, you will have to make sure you catch a ferry back the night of the reception!

What kind of places are on Gabriola?

We have a room block at Page's Inn you can book through! But Gabriola also has a few charming inns and guesthouses, but we highly recommend Airbnb or VRBO for cottages, cabins, and other cozy stays. Book early—they fill up fast, especially in summer.

What is the dress code?

Semi-formal/cocktail. Think garden party meets coastal charm! Nice dresses, suits, or dress shirts/slacks. The wedding is outdoors, so wear shoes you can walk in comfortably, and bring a layer in case the evening gets chilly. But we want to see your best!

Will there be dinner?

Yes! We’ll have a fully catered dinner on the night of the wedding, so come hungry.

Will there be drinks?

OF COURSE! We’ll be providing a selection of complimentary drinks with dinner, and there will also be a toonie bar for after. We want to provide as much as possible for you but alcohol is expensive and appreciate your understanding.

Are you registered anywhere?

We are working on a traditional registry and will update everyone once it is ready! We recognize just getting to Gabriola takes time, energy, and money, and we truly appreciate that. Your presence means the world to us, and we’re so grateful you’re making the trip. BUT If you feel inclined to share the love, we’d gratefully accept cash contributions toward our next big adventure (or mortgage, or honeymoon, or trip fund).

What should I pack?

In addition to your wedding wear: a light jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and maybe a swimsuit if you're feeling adventurous. Island weather can be unpredictable, so layers are your friend!
