Travel and Accommodation
Our wedding will take place on beautiful Gabriola Island—just a short ferry ride from Nanaimo, BC. Since most of you will be travelling from out of town, here are a few options to make your journey smooth and your stay comfortable:
Option 1: Stay in Nanaimo + Ferry to Gabriola
Nanaimo is the nearest city with a major airport and plenty of hotel options. If you're coming from Vancouver, you can catch a ferry from there! Once in Nanaimo, you can hop on the Gabriola Island ferry, which departs from the Nanaimo Harbour terminal downtown. The crossing takes about 20 minutes. Ferries run regularly, but the last ferry is typically around 11 PM and the schedule is altered on Sundays. Please check the BC Ferries schedule and Gabriola Island ferry schedule closer to the date to confirm times! This is a great option if you prefer city amenities and flexibility.
Hot tip: Once you’ve paid for the ferry to Gabriola, the return trip back to Nanaimo is free!
Option 2: Stay on Gabriola Island
For the full island experience, consider booking your accommodation right on Gabriola. The island has a handful of charming inns, guesthouses, and boutique hotels, but they do book up fast since the island is quite small; we recommend securing your spot early. Airbnb and VRBO also have wonderful cottages, cabins, and suites, many of which are nestled in the trees or near the beach.
If you're staying on Gabriola, you'll wake up to island quiet, and you won’t have to worry about catching the ferry on the day of the wedding!

We have a block of rooms reserved at Page’s Inn on Silva Bay for our guests. As it’s the weekend before the holiday, a three-night minimum stay is required (this is common for most places on the island that weekend).
The inn is truly beautiful—right on the waterfront and just minutes from our venue—making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.
To book one of our blocked rooms, please call the inn directly and mention you’re part of our wedding group. The rooms vary in prices depending on the style (but most of them you can fit 1-4 people in, and 2 of the rooms have a conjoining door)!
Gabriola Central B&B

Located in Gabriola in the Gabriola Island region, Gabriola Central B&B features accommodations with free WiFi. There is a seating and/or dining area in some units. Breakfast items are available for guests to cook. Items consist of fruits, bread, peanut butter and various jams, cereal, cheese, butter, and coffee and tea.
The Surf Lodge and Pub
885 Berry Point Road, Gabriola Island, CA
Located in Gabriola, The Surf Lodge and Pub provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a private beach area, a terrace and a bar. Some of the units include cable flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge, and a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. At the lodge you'll find a restaurant serving American cuisine. Vegetarian and gluten-free options can also be requested. After a day of hiking or cycling, guests can relax in the garden or in the shared lounge area. Nanaimo Harbor Water Airdrome Airport is 7.5 miles away.
Courtyard By Marriott Nanaimo

Featuring a shared lounge, bar and views of city, Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo is located in Nanaimo, a few steps from Nanaimo Museum. Providing a restaurant, the property also features a fitness center, as well as an indoor pool and a hot tub. Guests can have a drink at the snack bar. At the hotel, all rooms come with a desk. Complete with a private bathroom equipped with a shower and free toiletries, all guest rooms at Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and selected rooms here will provide you with a seating area. Guest rooms feature a closet. À la carte and American breakfast options are available at the accommodation. Guests at Courtyard by Marriott Nanaimo will be able to enjoy activities in and around Nanaimo, like hiking and cycling. Featuring bay windows, on-site Minnoz Restaurant and Lounge showcases views of Nanaimo Harbor. The Coast Bastion Inn has an on-site fitness room. Departure Bay Ferry Terminal is just 2.1 mi from this hotel. Nanaimo Aquatic Center is 4 minutes’ drive away.
The Haven

With rooms by quiet coastline waters and rustic cabins tucked away among the trees, you will feel far from the hustle and bustle of city life, but The Haven is only 20 minutes by ferry from Nanaimo.
The Haven also runs workshops and events. It is one of the furthest accommodations from our wedding.
