We are getting married! Wanna come?
There’s so much to explore in Nanaimo and Gabriola, but these are a few favourites we found especially charming and wanted to suggest.
Our new FAVOURITE pub. If you have time on your way over, be sure to stop.
The Crow & Gate Pub, nestled in Cedar just south of Nanaimo, is a beloved local gem that brings the charm of a traditional English pub to Vancouver Island. Established in 1972 as British Columbia's first neighbourhood pub, it was crafted with authentic Tudor-style architecture and surrounded by lush English gardens. The pub offers a cozy interior with timber beams and a picturesque outdoor seating area, complete with a pond and resident black swans.
Feed and pet the animals. Shop at the store for Alpaca wear and farm produce. Summer - OPEN Thursday and Saturday 11am-3pm. Off-Season from September 1st.- OPEN Saturdays only.
Ravenskill Orchards has over 1,000 trees across two acres, with 25 different varieties of apples. They offer upick, a variety of apple butters, sweet apple caramels, fresh pressed cider, and apple juice.
The Surf Lodge and Pub is a cherished Gabriola Island landmark that offers a blend of rustic charm and coastal beauty. Situated on the island's western shore, the lodge provides stunning views of the Strait of Georgia, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and gatherings.
"The ocean has carved this sandstone peninsula into an unusual wavelike formation that we now call the Malaspina Galleries. This impressive carving has the form of a barreling wave and is truly fascinating to see. It is a wonderfully visual way to appreciate the sheer power of water.
Wavelike formations exist all over the Gulf Islands, but these are the most well-known. These are by many accounts the most impressive at 100m long, ideal because they are also the most accessible. The wave is nearly 4m tall, which means you can easily walk under it and observe the finer details of the rock structure."
