Dating is hard enough as it is. Throw in a couple of healthcare workers and a global pandemic and you've got the start of a better romance than anything in Grey's Anatomy.
Right as COVID was beginning, Connie began to work at an Emergency Department while finishing nursing school. As the pandemic progressed, Angel was brought home from his deployment and he came to help out at his old hospital - the same one Connie had just started at.
As anyone who works in healthcare knows, there's no bond like a trauma bond and there are no stronger trauma bonds than the ones formed during COVID. As they worked side by side, they quickly became close. After some months, the world began to open back up, which allowed them to get ever closer and in the summer of 2020, they officially became a couple.
Once Angel knew he wanted to propose, the psych out plans began. Blaming their incompatible work schedules, Angel sent Connie to go ring shopping with her friends. Little did she know, he was working on creating her a custom ring. While waiting for the ring to be completed, Connie's parents invited them to join them on a trip to Paris and Rome. As anyone who knows Connie knows, the girl loves Paris, so the plans for a Paris proposal began.
With the ring complete, Angel drove to Connie's parents house to ask for their permission. Over the next few weeks, her parents would help him hold onto / hide the ring and plan the proposal.
During the first night in Paris, Angel planned a family photoshoot around Paris, followed by a trip to the top the Eiffel Tower at sunset, all of which ended with no ring. As we walked down along the Seine, he gestured to their right where a rom-com worth set up of rose petals, candles, and lit up letters spelling out “MARRY ME” could be seen. He led her towards the set up and with her parents on the sidelines, a violinist playing La Vie En Rose, sparklers, and a glowing Eiffel Tower behind them, Connie said yes.
