◦ Italy in September is mild compared to Chicago!
◦ Average temperatures range as low as 57°F (in the early morning and evening) and as high as 79°F during the day. The mean temperature average is about 72°F.
◦ With that said, we recommend packing light clothing, with some slightly warmer layers for the cooler evenings. (Honestly, layers will be your best friend)
◦ There's also pools at the villas so don't forget to bring a bathing suit!

1. Power adapter - Standard U.S. electronics do not fit into Italian outlets. So in order to keep your phone and other electronics charged, you will need a power adapter specifically designed for Italian outlets. You can easily find some on Amazon, such as the ones by Tessan
2. Comfortable shoes - You may be tempted to wear some nice shoes or heels out and about, but I promise you that your feet will thank you if you just put on some sneakers or flats. You may want to pack a pair or dressier shoes for nice dinners, but more often than not, you'll want super comfy shoes.
3. Portable charger - From pictures, to directions, to translating, to pulling up your tickets, etc, you're going to be using your phone a lot. Don't get stuck phoneless in a new country, get a portable charger
4. Water bottle - This is optional, but we found helpful. You're going to be doing a lot of walking, so you're probably going to get thirsty. Of course you can stop by a shop and buy a bottle, but in much of Italy, there are public drinking water fountains which offer a free way to fill up your water for the day. If you want to be extra safe, get one that has a filter. Just make sure it's easy to carry around since you'll be lugging it around.
5. Umbrella - Again, optional but nice. Italy sees rain year round, with the rainy season beinging September-April, so having a compact travel umbrella just in case isn't a bad idea. If you're staying in an AirBNB, we've found that most provided an umbrella for us, but doesn't hurt to have one on hand just in case!
6. Shawl / Wrap (women) - Some of the big "must see" spots in Italy are religious sites (e.g. The Vatican or the many popular basilicas) and they do require you to be more modestly dressed (no showing of your knees or shoulders). You will turned away being improperly or immodestly dressed, but simple lightweight shawl can help prevent that.
