Q + A

EVENT FAQ

CAN I BRING A GUEST/DATE?

Due to limited space, we're only able to accommodate guests who are formally invited on your invitation. If you received a plus one, their invitation will be sent along with yours. Only those with a personal invitation will be allowed to attend.

I DIDN'T RECEIVE A PLUS ONE AND I DON'T WANT TO TRAVEL TO ITALY ALONE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Traveling alone to a new country can definitely be overwhelming and scary. While we cannot accommodate more than those formally invited to the wedding itself, we encourage you to invite someone to adventure around Italy / Europe with before/after the wedding! We want you to have an amazing time during your trip, and we hope you make a whole vacation out of it! So invite your parents, friends, etc to adventure with you around the wedding weekend!

WILL THE WEDDING BE INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will take place outside. In the case of bad weather, the entire event will be moved inside.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE WELCOME DINNER?

Think a casual rehearsal dinner, except everyone is invited! By no means do you need to up all dressed up (unless you want to!) but there will be photos taken so maybe not sweats?

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE WEDDING?

The dress code is cocktail attire. We ask that you reserve the wedding colors (sage green and navy blue) for the wedding party, as well as the color white for the bride. Things to keep in mind: the weather will be pleasant during the day, but cooler in the evening. That being said, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a cover-up (jacket, shawl, cardigan, etc) near by for the reception. Examples of potential outfits are shown below.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE BBQ ON THE LAST NIGHT?

Nice casual clothes, like you would for a date. Again it will be cooler in the evening so a jacket or cover-up is recommended.

SHOULD I BRING A GIFT TO ITALY?

We appreciate your presence, and let's be honest - carrying a bunch of stuff while traveling can be a pain. If you plan on giving us a gift, we ask that any gifts to be mailed or delivered to our house in Wadsworth.

HOW DO I PAY FOR THE MEALS AT THE CASTELLO?

All meals must be pre-booked 4-months in advance, so we will pre-pay as we get the RSVPs. Please email us and indicate if you will be paying through Venmo, Zelle, Cash or Check.

TRAVEL FAQ

WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES SHOULD I PACK?

Italy in September is mild compared to Chicago! Average temperatures range as low as 57°F (in the early morning and evening) and as high as 79°F during the day. The mean temperature average is about 72°F. With that said, we recommend packing light clothing, with some slightly warmer layers for the cooler evenings. There's also pools at the villas so don't forget to bring a bathing suit!

DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO ITALY?

While it was previously stated that you would need an ETIAS, they have delayed this process so you no longer need one.

IS ITALY SAFE TO TRAVEL IN?

Italy is a very safe country to travel, visit, and live in. If you’re worried about safety, don’t be. Connie has solo traveled in Rome and around Tuscany, and never once felt unsafe. Major crimes are very rare, but you do have to look out for petty crime – specifically pickpocketing. Travel safety tip: When you’re walking in a busy area, do not keep your phone or wallet in your outer pocket. Keep them in an inner jacket pocket or a small purse carried in front of your body that isn't easily opened (latches and zippers are your friends).

SHOULD I TRY TO COORDINATE TRAVEL WITH OTHER GUESTS?

Yes! The more people we can group together on flights, the easier it will be coordinate shuttles to and from the airport and train stations. If you don't really know anyone else coming to the wedding, let us know and we can try to help you coordinate with other guests.

CAN I TRAVEL AROUND EUROPE/ITALY BEFORE AND AFTER THE WEDDING?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to do so! Everyone is always telling me that Europe, especially Italy, is on their travel bucket list. But I never really hear about people actually going... So this is your chance! Whether it be hanging out in Rome for a few days before the wedding or adventuring around Europe after the wedding, we hope you use our wedding as an excuse to vacation and make the most of the trip!

See our "THINGS TO DO" section on the website for more information on how you can make the most of this trip!

IS UBER AVAILABLE IN ITALY?

◦ Uber is available in Rome, Milan, and Florence, but it is not commonly used.

◦ In Venice, there are no cars. This means you will have to walk everywhere (which is very doable) or take the ferries.

◦ Taxi stands can be found outside of most tourist attractions, main squares, and transport hubs (including the airport).

◦ Taxis can also be called from any accommodation and will take 20-30 minutes to arrive.

A useful Taxi App for Florence and Rome is itTaxi.

I NEED HELP

Don't worry! Since this is an international wedding, Connie and Angel will be available to help with recommendations on flights, knowledge on how to navigate traveling in Europe, and tips and tricks for making the trip smooth.

While we are happy to try and help you coordinate plans before and after the wedding, we ask that you do it BEFORE we get to Italy. Once we get there, we will not be available to help figure out what do after the wedding (because wedding and honeymoon and whatnot)
