What is Copper Harbor?
Copper Harbor is a unique and scenic natural harbor on Gitchi-Gami (Lake Superior) situated in the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a very walk-able town with a slower pace of life and a lot of views! A special place for us and a great place to enjoy a slower pace of life and connect with nature! Connor has roots in the Keweenaw and we are excited for you to celebrate our love and marriage here!
How should I get around and where should I park during the weekend?
Copper Harbor is very walkable so if you are staying in town, feel free to walk or drive to the events. See the map below for event locations and parking!
There is a parking lot at the reception venue (the Harbor Haus) as well as parking options by the Community Center.
Will there be cellphone reception?
NO! We recommend walkie talkies and binoculars/hand gestures from across town ;)
On a serious note- there are no cell phone providers which work in Copper Harbor. You can prepare by printing the map but don't worry- it's a very small town and you'll find free WiFi at the Community Center and likely at your lodging. We are excited for the opportunity to have an "off-grid" wedding and for everyone to have less distractions and connect with one another :)
What's the weather like?
Copper Harbor in July will likely be a little buggy and between high 60s and low 70s, getting chillier into the upper 50s at night.
What's the dress code?
Our welcome dinner is in a park and our ceremony/reception is in a location that lends itself to lots of outdoor wandering and occasional walking on gravel and grass- so please wear shoes that are comfortable outdoors. Ladies - we recommend avoiding heels, or wearing block heels/platform sandals. Being right on the lake, it can be breezy so we suggest having a light jacket, sweater, or shawl in case it get's chilly.
Friday: We ask you to dress in wedding casual for the Welcome Dinner. For guys, think button downs and slacks or nice pants. For ladies, think sun dresses, jumpsuit, or two-piece set.
Saturday: we ask you to dress wedding semi-formal for the Wedding Ceremony & Reception. For guys, think suits with or without a tie, or sport jacket with slacks. For ladies, think dresses (midi or knee-length), jumpsuits, or pant suits. Please consider your comfort over dressiness! :) We are just happy to have you all there more than anything!
Can I bring a plus one?
We are at capacity with our venue which means we are sadly unable to accommodate additional guests. We look forward to celebrating with you on the day!
When should I RSVP by?
We are trying our best to fit everyone in to the venue, so please RSVP on the RSVP tab of this website as soon as you have made a decision.
Can I include some photos with Kara and/or Connor in the slideshow during the Welcome Dinner?
Yes! Please add photos via
uploading to: https://albums.memento.com/karalineandconnor
emailing to: karalineandconnor@submit.memento.com
Can I take photos with my phone or camera?
We only ask that your devices stay put away during the ceremony. You may take any photos you want during other times just make sure to enjoy the moment! :) We have two professional photographers to capture the day, so be ready to smile!
Will there be a time gap between your wedding and reception?
Yes, the ceremony will end around 1:00pm and you will have until 4:30pm. for the cocktail hour. Please check out our Things to Do page for our suggestions (there is lots to do in CH!), and keep your travel time in mind if you leave Copper Harbor between the ceremony & reception :)
