Our story begins, ironically enough, in the womb. That’s where we both were born. Not at the same time of course but we do get mistaken for siblings often enough to note here that we are unrelated so don’t use that as your objection during the wedding.

Shortly after the womb (some 20 years later) we met at a wedding. Completely disregarded each other. Really doesn’t even bear mentioning.

Fast forward two years. I’m PR’ing on deadlift. Having a great time.

Fast forward again. Nope too far. Rewind. No, not 15x, do 4x speed. Now we’re at the end again. Amazon Prime fix your settings.

Okay just do scene selection. Here we are. Fan Into Flame retreat, 2021, Megan was determined to not become friends with me. I was oblivious. Towards the end we had a short chit chat and then parted ways again. Sparks flew for some.

Fast forward that summer, Megan invites Conor to play soccer and they play soccer.

Isn’t this riveting?

But wait! Plot development here. After soccer, Conor asks Megan if she wants to help him with this fun podcast he’s doing, she says yes! This was foreshadowing for the yes that came later, but after a holy litany of “no”s.

They do the podcast along with a few pals and it was a smashing success. Talked to some interesting folks, some absolute nutcases, and got to podcast with the mayor one time. Great plot development and a romantic side arc sprung forth.

One day, Conor is studying at the library and gets a burst of confidence to ask out this charming, fun, beautiful gal he’s been thinking about these last few weeks. Little does he know people outside his study room heard the whole thing, especially the bit where she was on a single year and could not date. They give him a sympathetic look on the way out. He goes and vents to John Bergler (the best man).

Megan is stricken with love but could not acknowledge it due to her fiery commitment. Although she tossed it over for a few days.

Conor and Megan remain friends much to Conors dismay but he, the stubborn Irishman, is not so easily discouraged. Due to insane chance and against all probability, they manage to catch the same bus almost every week and enjoy emotionally chaste conversation the entire time.

Okay. Dial in because here’s the real cheese of the story. Megan and Conor are at a brunch party and she breaks the news that her single year was completed faster than quarterly projections had forecasted. Conor stares blankly but takes the hint. He gives her another, more bold and more confident telephone call, this time offering to buy tacos. She cannot resist. They have a supremely awkward date but moderately authentic tacos. Shockingly, they go on a few more and they decrease in awkwardness over time. Finally, on the third date they talk about making things official. Long story short they do. And that is basically it ! Thanks for reading this far this has been conor and megan writing a wedding story but goofing around too much to write a coherent narrative. We weren't gunning for a book deal anyway.

TL;DR: we’re getting married buy one of the really expensive things on the registry
