We have known each other since elementary school, where all the kids went to BF on Friday nights to go rollerskating. There may have been some innocent childhood flirting. We shared some friends and knew each other for many years before becoming close and going to our Junior Prom together. That summer we would go to the beach with our friends or get up to shenanigans like playing tag at Valplayso, an old wooden playground, in the pouring rain... which led to many cuts and bruises. With a lot of growing up to do, things didn't work out at the time, but we remained friends and always had a great laugh together. Having classes together for a semester in college (before John went off to IU,) we annoyed our professors by giggling in the back of the room from writing silly jokes and notes to each other during class. John moved away for some time, but we would run into each other when he came home to visit his family and we always got along and enjoyed catching up on each others' lives. While on an extended visit in our mid 20s, John helped Cydney paint her first small place to live in on her own. She then visited him when he moved to Chicago not long after, going to a White Sox game (also in the pouring rain- a theme of good luck together.) Yet, the stars still had not quite aligned for us. On the weekend of Thanksgiving 2022, John was back home in Valparaiso visiting family while living in Nashville and went out for the night with his friends. Cydney had been planning to stay in that night, but ended up going out to give her parents a safe ride home. While at Northside, she saw John walk by looking a bit lost and confused. She got up and tapped him on the shoulder with a big smile. We spent the evening catching up and after that, he kept reaching out to her about seeing her over Christmas. She brushed it off as just friends getting together, but last minute he changed the plan to a dinner date. She spent January in California with her best friend, and he took the initiative to come visit her there for a weekend, taking her to Catalina Island (another rain filled adventure.) We went back and forth visiting each other in Nashville and Valparaiso for a little while, but just 5 months in, John decided to come back home and we moved in together. At the end of February 2025, John booked us a little getaway trip to ski/snowboard at Boyne Mountain and proposed to Cydney in our beautiful, cozy Chalet room. The stars finally aligned for us and we have been so happy together! We love having little adventures and are always laughing.

Obviously don't forget your undies and PJs! You'll also want to bring swimwear (at least two suits so one can dry while you sit by the pool in the other!), coverups, causal day clothes like shorts and shirts, and some nicer/dressier evening clothes for dinner at the resort (although there is no dress code for the restaurants.) There are athletic activities at the resort such as tennis, yoga, and golf so if you plan to partake in any of those, plan clothing accordingly. You should also bring a sweater or light jacket in case it gets a little brisk in the evening. See below for Wedding Outfit Inspo!

Wedding Outfit Ideas

The Beach Club is a beautiful spot overlooking the Caribbean. There is no color code or exact dress code requirements but we're going for a romantic, fun, colorful, and chic vibe. Lean towards formal/ semi-formal attire. Gentle reminder to the ladies to please not wear white or white adjacent colors (ivory, cream, light beige, etc.) Block heels or flats are recommended as there are sandy areas. Men, button-downs with nice shorts and loafers are acceptable as are suits! If you need some help figuring out what to wear, we've included some pictures below!

What To Pack!

Schedule

Aside from the wedding on Friday the 6th, we have a very light list of wedding related events. We want you to be able to relax by the pool, socialize, do excursions, or participate in resort activities at your leisure and make this trip what you'd like it to be! However, when you arrive, we'd love for you to locate us to say hi and receive your Welcome Bags which will include an itinerary with wedding day information. Here are other notable events to keep in mind: -Tuesday the 3rd, if you have arrived at the resort, there is a Welcome Cocktail Hour from 6-7 at the Serenity Bar &amp; Terrace -Wednesday the 4th, the bride will be having a bachelorette event thrown by her sister in the afternoon and into the evening. So, I apologize to the men whose ladies will be taken for the evening.The groom will be golfing in the afternoon with a few of his friends. -Thursday the 5th we will be having an immediate family only rehearsal dinner and then we will be joining the general fun around the resort! -Friday the 6th is wedding day! Please pay close attention to the itinerary in your welcome bag for shuttle pickup time. There will be three shuttles all leaving around the same time to take everyone over to the Beach Club. Then we get married and party! -Saturday the 7th we will likely be recovering by the pool, so feel free to join us. -Sunday the 6th is Superbowl Sunday. The resort will likely be having a large party that you will have to pay separately to attend. I do believe you can still watch the game at other bars on resort for no extra cost. If you are interested in watching the Superbowl, please inquire with the concierge about this.

Before Arriving 

We strongly recommend downloading What's App and the Hyatt Inclusive Collection App. What's App is commonly used in other countries and will allow you to communicate with everyone much easier. Text messages and phone calls do not go through well in Mexico and we would like to be able to update you with our hangout locations at the resort. The Hyatt Inclusive App will allow you to make dinner reservations, order room service, see the activities schedule to join in resort sponsored activities, and overall take full advantage of your time at the resort.

Spa Services

Unfortunately, the resort does not have a full service spa. They do, however, have an area where you can get massages, manicures, and pedicures. If you're interested in these services, please inquire with the concierge to schedule.

Travel Info

If you booked through our wedding block, then the travel agency should be sending you your travel documents sometime in the next week and will provide pickup instructions for airport transportation.
