The Tapestry House was first built in the Cache la Poudre Valley in 1890 and the way it looks today is very similar to how it looked then! It has gone through some repairs and updating in the last hundred and some years but the history has been preserved.
What is now the reception hall and the office spaces used to be a barn, which was actually built before the house way back in 1880. The property was originally used for horse training and was named Hawkeye Ranch until 2003 when it was turned into an event venue.
During the Colorado gold rush Laporte was one of the biggest towns north of Denver and was in the running to be named capital of Colorado. It was decided in the 1881 state election and Denver won over Laporte by one vote!
