Take a boat tour while you're here! You, of course, can book with any boat tour company but we recommend Chicago's First Lady. Dani's first job when she moved to Chicago was actually bartending on those tour boats and she loved every minute of it. It's an incredible way to see the city and learn about its architecture and history.
Take a trip to the Art Institute of Chicago. It's full of amazing works of art and exhibits. You can easily spend a full day in there but could do a fast track of the highlights if you've got other plans that day.
Unfortunately, there are no Cubs home games the week before our wedding. If you stick around for the week after they'll be back, but even if you don't, we recommend just taking in the sights of the historic Wrigley Field. It's smack in the middle of Wrigleyville so you can take some pictures and then get some food and drinks after.
Stop by museum campus and not only take in some beautiful sights of our city and all the park has to offer but also have the opportunity to visit:
The Field Museum:
The Adler Planetarium:
https://www.adlerplanetarium.org/
or The Shedd Aquarium:
The Lakefront Trail is an 18-mile pedestrian AND bike trail that stretches throughout the city along the lake (duh). It has multiple entrance points throughout the city too! We HIGHLY recommend grabbing a nice iced coffee (or whatever your treat of choice is) and taking a stroll to enjoy the beautiful lakefront.
Chicago has some of the best food a city can offer! From the Chicago classics to Chinese, French, and Italian, you really can't go wrong. We're very passionate about the food is this city, so here are links to some of our favorites around the city with what we'd be ordering, if you're looking for local recommendations:
Bistro Campagne - French
- Chou de Bruzelles (brussel sprouts), French onion soup, and steak frites
Pequod's - Chicago Deep Dish **Highly recommend making a reservation or you will wait 2 hours for a table**
- Deep dish with whatever toppings your heart desires
Triple Crown - Dim Sum **In the heart of Chinatown for peak exploring**
- Literally anything
Small Cheval - Burgers and fries
- Cheeseburger and fries with the garlic aioli
Siena Tavern - Italian
- The Forget About It menu is crazy but if you want a singular dish, Rigatoni Alla Vodka or the Brick Chicken
Portillo's - A lot of Chicago staples but I'm sending you for the...
- Italian Beef with hot peppers and cheese fries. It sounds crazy but you HAVE to try the chocolate cake shake. We recommend splitting that bad boy though.
Byron's - Chicago Dog
- Chicago style hot dog or Gyro. If you're feeling wild, do both!
Savanna - Breakfast/ Brunch
- Llapingachos Benedict or Chilaquiles. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their menu items.
