Where is the wedding hosted?
Our wedding will be hosted at Strathmere, a beautiful venue on the outskirts of Ottawa with several charming buildings on the property. Our celebration will take place in one of them, The Lodge. You can find the address under the 'Home' tab of this website.
Will I need to travel between the ceremony and the reception?
Our full wedding event is hosted at Strathmere, so there will be no need to travel between multiple locations to attend the ceremony and reception.
What time should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 PM. The doors will open at 3:30 PM, and we kindly ask that guests arrive no later than 3:45 PM to allow sufficient time to park, enter the venue, and find a seat. Due to the layout of the venue, all walkways leading to the ceremony space will be closed at 3:55 PM. Unfortunately, no late entry into the ceremony will be permitted.
Does the venue have parking?
Yes! There is plenty of complimentary parking at the venue.
Do you have a hotel block?
Strathmere is partnered with a nearby Hampton Inn & Suites to offer a discounted stay to guests. We encourage all those interested to take advantage! Please note that rooms are expected to book quickly due to a high volume of weddings in the area. The last day to book through our room block is September 17th. Details on the room block (and other hotel options) are available under the ‘Travel’ tab.
Will you have transportation available?
A shuttle will be available between the venue and the Hampton Inn & Suites before the ceremony and at the end of the night. The shuttle will depart promptly from the hotel at 3:15 PM to ensure guests arrive in time for the ceremony. Shuttles back to the hotel will depart at 11:00 PM and 12:30 AM.
What is the dress code?
We’d love to see our family and friends dress up with us! The dress code for our wedding is formal attire. Gentlemen are encouraged to wear a suit and tie, while ladies may opt for an ankle-length to floor-length gown.
Will alcohol be served?
Yes, alcohol will be served during cocktail hour and the reception. A glass of sparkling wine will be available to guests during cocktail hour, along with non-alcoholic cranberry mocktails as an alternative for those who prefer not to or cannot consume alcohol. During the reception, complimentary red and white wine will be served at each table, and other alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the bar.
Can I take pictures?
We kindly request that you enjoy this special moment with us and leave all cell phones and cameras in your purse or pocket during the ceremony. We have hired a wonderful photographer to capture every detail of the wedding, and we will share those photos with you afterwards! After the ceremony, we would love for you to capture our special day, and we encourage you to snap away.
What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
There is a place to indicate any food allergies or dietary restrictions when RSVPing. If you forgot to include these, please contact us as soon as possible to ensure that we can accommodate your needs.
What happens if I don’t RSVP in time?
If we do not receive your RSVP by the deadline of September 27th, we will assume you are unable to attend. While we will truly miss celebrating with you, we must provide a final guest count to our venue within the required timeline. We sincerely appreciate your understanding!
What if I have more questions?
If your question has not been answered here, we would be happy to provide you with an answer if you reach out directly!
